OBITUARIES

(dated: Friday, 02 Jan 1914)
William McGarvey a resident of Fulton Twp nearly all his life, died at his home near Wakefield, Thursday afternoon. About 2 weeks ago he had a stroke of paralysis, and a second stroke followed Wednesday, with results as stated. He was in his 79th year, and was born in Ireland. His wife was Miss Markley, before marriage, is still living. Mrs. James Wasson of Wakefield is a sister of the deceased. Mr. McGarvey was a farmer. He leaves four daughters and two sons: Mrs. Lizzie Wright of Newton Square; Charles of Leaman Place; Mrs. Ellsworth Spence of Westbrook; William of Oxford, and Mrs. Ella Moedinger of Lancaster. The funeral will be held Tuesday with services at the home at 11:30, and at Pleasant Grove M. E. Church at one o'clock, where interment will be made.

Elizabeth McGarvey Wasson, wife of the late James Wasson, who departed this life ten years ago, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. James McCullough, at McSparren Thursday morning at four o'clock, after an illness of six days following a stroke of paralysis. Deceased was in her 93nd year and had been a life-long resident of this neighborhood. She was the oldest member of the Little Britain Presbyterian Church, having connected herself with that church in her early girlhood. She was a very loving, gentle and patient disposition, being loved by all who knew her. She was a splendid Christian character. Ten years ago she came to the home of her daughter where she has since made her home. Six years ago, she had the misfortune of falling down the stair steps, breaking her left hip. Since recovering she had been able to go from one room to another by the aid of a cane. She leaves the following children: Robert, of Kennett Square; Martha, wife of James McCullough; Mary, wife of Edward Gallagher, of Kennett Square; and Hanna, wife of James Wright of Bartville. Funeral will be held from her late home Saturday at one o'clock, all services at the house. Interment in the Little Britain Cemetery.
