NEW PARK Howard S. "Buck" Burkins, 82, of New Park R.D. 1, died at 6:30 Saturday at his home. He was the husband of the late Edith G. (Dellinger) Burkins.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fawn Grove United Methodist Church, Fawn Grove. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fawn Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 263, Fawn Grove, 17321. The Hartenstein-Orsburn Funeral Home, 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Pylesville, Mr. Burkins was the son of the late Jacob S. and Laura A. (Waltimyer) Burkins.
Mr. Burkins was a life-Iong employee of James T. Smith of Fawn Grove, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Fawn Grove United Methodist Church and the Mason-Dixon Hunting Club. He had been a cymbal player in the former Fawn Grove Band.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol F. Males, New Park, with whom Mr. Burkins resided, and Colleen W. Speaker, Williamsport; five grandchil-dren; and a sister, Olive Rutledge, White Hall, Md.
Officiating at the service wilI be his pastor, the Rev. Charles Salisbury.

Columbia - Ray L. Burkins 62, of 32 Lancaster Ave., died at 5 a.m. Sunday at Lebanon Veterans Adminstration Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. , He was the husband of Thelma Wellsh Burkins.
Mr. Burkins retired in 1985 as a steward from the Columbia Fraternal Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations. He was wounded three times .and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Red Rose

She was the wife of the late Roy C. Burkins, a ,native of York County.Born in Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Newton B. and Ella Kauffman Keenen. Survivors include:

Edna Sprout, age 82, of Rising Sun, MD died Thursday, December 25, 2003.
Mrs. Sprout was born on March 17, 1921 in Level, MD to the late Oliver & Elsie Blakeley. She was an active member in the following: the Rising Sun Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she served as a President and other offices on numerous occasions, the Cecil Countywide Ladies Auxiliary where she also served as a President and other offices on numerous occasions, and the Maryland State Ladies Auxiliary where she served as President during the year of 1982. She was also a member of the Spready Oak Homemakers Club and a life member of Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served on various committees. She enjoyed accompanying her late husband in his hobby of collecting and displaying his "Hit & Mis" gasoline engines and toy trucks.
She is survived by 4 sons, Wilmer H. Sprout and his wife, Beryl of Rising Sun, MD, Wayne A. Sprout of Elkton, MD, Edwin L. Sprout and his wife, Diane of Elkton, MD and Ernest G. Sprout and his wife, Pat of Colora, MD; 5 brothers, Marion Blakeley of Colora, MD, Louis Blakeley of Rising Sun, MD, Earl Blakeley of Colora, MD, Wilbur Blakeley of Rising Sun, MD and Walter Blakeley of Conowingo, MD; 3 sisters, Mable Slate of North East, MD, Bert Spence of Elkton, MD and Ruth Shires of Colora, MD; 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Wylie Thomas Burkins Sr., 63, of Fawn Grove, died Saturday after an eight-month battle with lung cancer.
He was the husband of Mildred Maxine Mabe Burkins.
Mr. Burkins was an Army veteran of World War II and served for Harford County, Md. He was a master plumber for 35 years throughout Harford and York counties. At the time of his illness, he was employed with Mowery's Inc., Glen Rock.
Born in Water Vale, Md., Mr. Burkins was a son of the late Charles M. and Catherine Lagan Burkins.
Survivors include: Four daughters Donna Rosalie Watkins, Fawn Grove; Ennice Mae Thompson, Bel Air, Md.; Debra Maxine Carter, Stewartstown; and Crystal Gayle Burkins, Fawn Grove. DELTA Gladys E. Burkins, 75, of Delta RR 2, died at 3:01 a.m. Sunday at York Hospital, from injuries sustained in a fire at the home of her sister, Ethel E. Burke, also of Delta RR 2. She was the wife of Oliver C. "Pat" Burkins, who died July 24, 1992.
The service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, near Delta. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Harkins Funeral Home Inc., 600 Main St., Delta, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burkins was born July 24,1919, in Peach Bottom Township. She was the daughter of the late William Albert and Harriet Ann (Kilgore) Barbour.
She was a lifetime resident of the Delta area. She was a 45-year member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church. She was employed from 1946 to 1964 at the Snyder Packing Co. and was a member of Airville Fire Company Auxiliary.
Mrs. Burkins is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Saunders of York; a son, William A. Burkins of Delta RR 2; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, L. Richard Burkins.
Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Catherine E. Boileau.

Ernest N. Burkins, 38 year old, 141 South Beaver street, Was fatally stricken shortly after (?) o'clock yesterday morning on Roosevelt avenue while walking to work at the York Ice Machinery corporation office. He was employed as a rate setter in the rate department of the company offices. He came to York from Harrisburg about seven years ago and went to work for the York concern. Workers carried. him to the company's first aid room and Dr John J. T. Cushner, 500 West Market street, was summoned and pronounced Mr. Burkins dead. Coroner L. U. Zech was notified and issued the death certificate. Death was caused by coronary occlusion. Mr. Burkins was a member of St. Paul's Methodist church, Fawn Grove. Besides his wife, Laura, he leaves a step-daughter, Evelyn May Keller, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob S. Burkins, a brother, Howard S. Burkins; and a sister, Olive Burkins, all of Fawn Grove.
Funeral services will be con-ducted at 2 p. m. Saturday at the funeral home of Walter W. Futer and Son, 662 Linden avenue. Interment in Greenmount cemetery

DELTA Oliver "Pat" C. Burkins, 75, of Delta RD 2, died Friday morning at Fallston Hospital, Fallston, Md. He was the husband of Gladys (Barbour) Burkins. The couple observed their 52nd wedding anniversary July 23.
The service will be 2 p.m. Mon-day at Mt. Nebo Church, Delta. Burial will be in the church ceme-tery. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. The Harkins Funeral Home Inc., 600 Main St., Delta, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Burkins was born in Peach Bottom Township, near Delta. He was the son of the late Albert and Sarah (Redman) Burkins.
He was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired from Bechtel Co. in 1979 after many years of service. He was a longtime member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. .
Mr. Burkins also is survived by a son, William A. Burkins of Felton; a daughter, Carol Ann Carey of Red Lion; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. ,
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Mark A. Hagy.

She was the wife of the late William H. Burkins. "
Mrs. Burkins was born in Fawn Grove and was a daughter of the late Willam and Jane Kauffman Wise.
She retired in 1964 as a seamstress with the former Renee Manufacturing Co.
Mrs. Burkins was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Dallastown Golden Age Club.
Survivors include: Four children Mrs. Margaret E. Riedel, 109 W. Main St., with whom she resided; Mrs. Faye L Jacobs, 431 W. Maple St.;Charles L. Burkins, Little Rock, Ark.; and William H. Russell Francis Burkins, 76, of Red Lion RD I, died at 6:58 a.m. Saturday ,at York Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Gladys E. (Holloway) Burkins. The couple had observed the 57th anniversary of their wedding July 18.
The service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Home Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

ERNEST N. BURKINS, COLLAPSES AT ICE MACHINERY PLANT GATE
A CORONARY OCCLUSION
While he was walking this morning to work in an office of a local defense production plant Ernest N. Burkins, 141 South Beaver street, was fatally stricken by a heart attack. Burkins, 38, was employed In the rate department in the York Ice Machinery corporation office on Roosevelt avenue. He left his home shortly, after 7 o'clock apparently in his ususal health. He was suddenly stricken, on RoosEvelt avenue and for a short time, sat on the front porch of a dwelling house to regain his strength. He resumed his walk to the office when a second attack, Coroner L. U. Zech learned, caused him to collapse at the guards gate atRoosevelt avenue and Gas alley. Workers carried the ill man into the firstaid room. Dr. John T. Cushner, 500 West Market street, was summoned and he responded to the call promptly. The physician pronounced Burkins dead; and then notified the coroner. The fatal attack was said to have been a coronary occlusion.
Mr. Burkins was, employed as a rate setter and was on the York Ice Machinery corporation's payroll for the past five years. He was a native of the southern part of York county. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Laura,N. Burkins..
The body was' removed to 'the funeral home of Walter W. Futer and Son, 664 Linden ,avenue.

He was a son of Mr. And Mrs. John J. Burkins Delta, RD the husband of Carrie Hoffmaster Burkins also formerly of 407 West Broadway, Red Lion entered into service June 28 *** and attended a service school at Camp Ediicott, R I before leaving for overseas duty Dec 20 ** He served in New Guinea and the Philippine�s.

60th anniversary,
Mary and Harry H. Burkins,5 S. Highland Ave., were married Feb, 11, 1929. In honor of the 60th anniversary of their marriage an open house was held at their home, hosted by their son and daughter-in-law. Burkins is a retired employee of York City Laundry, and his wife, the former Mary Hoffman, is, retired from Orinoka Mills. They have one son, James H. Burkins, York, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
