John H Miller

Enrolled out of Chambersburg, Pa., on October 26, 1864, as a private in Co. F, 61st Pa. V.I., 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 6th A.C.
�    In 1865, he was taken prisoner in front of Petersburg; was then held in Libby Prison and pardoned after three days
�    In the spring of 1865, he was furloughed for 30 days and returned to command at end of time.
�    Was involved with the siege and capture of Petersburg
�    Was honorably discharged in June of 1865 at Pittsburgh, Pa.

�    Born August 28, 1849, in Somerset County, PA
�    Son of Jacob and Tillio Miller
�    Married August 29, 1879, to Mary E. Nicola (born July 1, 1860), the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Ohler) Nicola
�    Was 18 years of age and working as a laborer when the war began
�    His grandfather, George Gibler, was a veteran of the war of 1812.
�    Died January 30, 1928, on Scratch Hill, Meyersdale
�    Buried in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale
�    His wife, Mary, died September 27, 1950
