James Satterfield

Original Member of the Presbytery of Hartford; Member of the Beaver Presbytery, ordained 3 Mar 1802, died 20 Nov 1857 at age 88 years

Rev. James Satterfield spent thirty-two years a pastor, for a part of his time at Moorfield  Church, in this [Shenango] Presbytery.  Dr. Eaton, in speak of him, says:  “He was a man of strong constitution and up to the last days of his life he could mount a horse and ride to the house of worship.  As a preacher he was plain and practical. He attempted no flights of fancy, but his sermons were full of the marrow of the gospel.  The reputation he has left behind him is that of sterling integrity, unvarnished truth and unblemished purity of heart and life.”
