In 1850 Carbon County was primarily industrial, mining and logging camps and a great deal of the population was transitory. Many individuals from Monroe County went there for short term employment. A number of researchers have found that long lost ancestor at one of the mines, his family still at home in Monroe. Also you will find some individuals counted on the Monroe County census because this was their permanent home and again counted in Carbon County where they worked. Be sure your names are not a duplicate.
