• Hessian immigrant Johannes ZULAUF purchased 206 acres in Milford Twp., Mifflin Co. in 1802, and moved there with his eleven-member family.  Before that he had lived in Berks and York Counties where his surname is found as ZULAUGH, SULOUF, SULAUF, etc. Within a decade after his move to Mifflin Co., the spelling of his surname settled down to SULOUFF and that spelling appears on his gravestone.  Two of his sons continued using SULOUFF and two sons changed their surname to SULOFF.  Historical information about this immigrant and his family, including additional resources for research, may be found on these websites :  http://mywebpages.comcast.net/nsulouff/EarliestHistory.htm  (The material on this Webpage is mainly drawn from the publication A SULOUFF AND SULOFF FAMILY HISTORY (801 pp., 174 graphics, over 3350 indexed names, 680 source footnotes) copywrighted 2001-2003, Library of Congress call number CS71.Z8662001) and https://sites.rootsweb.com/~paberks/  - Rev.
