Kendall Refining Co. Well Shot
WELL SHOT- A
drenching downpour failed to dampen the sprits of Desk and Derrick Club members
attending the Region 1 Conference held at the Holiday Inn this past weekend, who
braved the elements Saturday morning to witnesses the shooting of an oil well
staged by Kendall Refining Co. on the Kendall-Neath Lease at Red Rock.
Plans for the field trip were in charge of Sam W. Gregg Jr., assistant to the
president.
Miss Mary Zitkow, center, a club member employed in the New York office of The
Witco Chemical Corp., examines the "squib", which is used to see off the
nitroglycerin at the bottom of the well. Explaining the operation of the "squib"
is Bill Hopkins, left, of the Otto Torpedo Co., and Berne Taylor, Kendall Field
Superintendent.
The Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs of North America is comprised of women
employed by the petroleum and allied Industries for the purpose of furthering
their knowledge of the industry.
