Donald Campbell Passes Away At Ray Street Home
Gives His Life For Country - Gassing In War Is Cause of Death
Donald Campbell of Ray street, is dead. Successful in his fighting against the Germans when he was a member of the Sixth Marines, he could not withstand the attacks of the great foeman, Death, and this morning he passed away. His former buddies are arranging for a military funeral and he will be laid to rest in a manner befitting a soldier who has fought the good fight.
During the war Donald Campbell was a member of the famous Sixth Marines, one of the marine organizations that won undying fame at Chateau Thierry. During one of the drives in which the Americans participated, Campbell was gassed and while in Germany contracted influenza. Upon his return home he did not notice any ill effects of his war experiences but sometime ago was stricken.
Some weeks ago members of the American Legion installed a radio phone in his bedroom, so that he might enjoy the privilege of hearing the daily concerts that the Westinghouse Company of Pittsburgh sends out. He appreciated the courtesy of his pals and seemed to be cheered by their little attentions. Sunday, December 11th he became worse and this morning went to answer the Great Assembly.
