Thomas Blaine

News Comes Sergt. Blaine Was Killed

A message was received but a few days ago from the war department, stating that Sergeant Thomas Blaine, who enlisted in the field artillery two years ago, February 2, had been killed in action October 13th, on the battlefields of France. Sergt. Blaine made his home with Mrs. Clarence Hockenberry of Reynolds street, this city, and was well and favorably known to a wide circle of friends.

Sergeant Blaine was twenty-three years of age and was employed at the Car Works, previous to his enlistment. The first word from him indicating that he had arrived in France was received April 18, 1818. indicating that he may have arrived there the month previous.
