Welcome
to the Venango Township web site.
My name is John Robison and I am the new Venango Township
coordinator.
I very much welcome your contributions to this site. If you have
anything to contribute to the township of Venango, such as history, old photos,
or anything that would fit the subjects shown in the left margin of this page,
please feel free to send it to me at
[email protected]
. Venango Twp takes in Wattsburg, Phillipsville,
and Lowville.
Wattsburg is located on the southern boundary of
Venango where it meets the township of Amity. North of Venango is Greenfield Twp., and west
is Greene Twp.. East of Venango is New York State
. Wattsburg has been proud
to host the annual Erie County Fair, which has been in existence since 1884.
My Robison ancestors settled in Erie County in 1831, clearing
a farm in Greene Township. My
great-great grandfather Thomas Robison started his farm in Venango Township in the 1850s.
His daughter Ella Robison was a school teacher in Wattsburg
and ran a farm there into the 1950s.
Their descendants--the Robison/Southard/Davis/Blakeslee/Sturdivant
family lines are very populous in Erie County still today. I have been researching my Erie County ancestors for 25 years.
I also am a professional genealogy researcher
.
I very much enjoy genealogy research and Erie County genealogy in particular.
Let’s make the Venango Township website even better. I look forward to hearing from you!
