The information below was submitted by Dr. James C. Riley MD in June 2004 and is being posted at this time [2/5/05].

"The fourth child (boy) from the left in the third row from the top is my father, Bernard Arthur Riley. Dad was raised on the Riley Fruit Farm located on the Lake Road where he lived in 1920 with his two brothers, Raymond and Steven, sister, Emma Jean, father, Arthur, and mother, Eunice Stevens Riley. The farm was first purchased by his GGrandfather, Mathew Riley, in 1844. Mathew immigrated from Ireland in 1831 and married Bridget McAdams, also an Irish immigrant, about 1849. The farm was sold out of the family by my Uncle Steven just a few years ago. The house and barn still stand just as they did in 1920, easily seen along Route 5 with the 'Riley Fruit Farm' sign visible but fading over the barn door. Dad died in 1995 in Sebring, FL. He married my mother, Esther Virginia Kennedy, of Cranesville, Erie County, PA, in 1936. Her family owned the Kennedy Hardware Store in Cranesville which has been in continuous operation since before the Civil War. Her nephew, Charles Irvin (Buddy) Kennedy presently owns and operates the store which now houses a small museum. I will show the picture to my 94 year old mother, Esther, who lives nearby here on Hilton Head Island, SC, as she may recognize some of the other children even though she did not attend the North Girard School."
