The following addition was made March 12, 2003:
Site visitor Alan Hawkins has advised of an 1870s era photographer from Edinboro. William H. Van Dyke had a studio on Meadville Street in Edinboro across from the Methodist Episcopal Church. A biography of this gentleman, extracted from the Bates 1884 History of Erie County, can be found in the Rootsweb Message Boards as posted 19 April 2001. |

Site visitor Joi Dickerson recently purchased some old photos and has provided additional Photographer information. Several studio names are shown above but one additional Erie studio is mentioned, along with a studio one or more counties south of us in Oil City:

Site visitor and contributor Susan Smith has access to a family related photo which provides additional Photographer information. The portrait lists the photographer as G. R. Nourse of Fairview, Erie County, PA. He is listed in the 1870 census as 34 with an occupation of Artist. |
