Co., died unexpectedly Tuesday in his home, 1017 E. 32nd Street.� Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josephine Krvawski Konkel; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Glowecki and Mrs. Gustie Porkorski, one brother, Bernard Konkel.� Friends are invited to the Brugger funeral home where services will be held at a time to be announced.
Mrs. Theresa (Slick) Slivkanich, 43, died Thursday at the home of her brother-in-law, Steve Slivkanich, RD4, Erie, after a 3 month illness.� Surviving are her husband, Metro Slivkanich; one daughter, Miss Theresa Slivkanich; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Wojtasik, Miss Mary Jaskiewicz, Mrs. Stephanie Bujanowski, and Miss Stella Jaskiewicz; two brothers, John Fisher and Joseph Jaskiewicz.� Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
Rt. Rev. Msgr. Alfred M. Watson officiated Thursday at Mass Requiem in St. Peter�s Cathedral for Miss Mary O�Connor, who died Tuesday.� Assisting at the Mass were Rev. John Slater and Rev. Summers.� Prayer services preceded in the Quinn funeral home.� Burial was in Trinity cemetery.�� Pallbearers included John J. O�Connor, Thomas J. McCarthy, John J. Burgoyne, Jr., Dr. Robert Carrick and Vincent and Robert O�Connor.�

Funeral services for Peter Kloor, 80, who died Wednesday, were held Friday afternoon from the Melzer funeral home, with the Rev. A. U. Gesler, St. Stephen�s Lutheran church, officiating.� Burial was in Calvary cemetery.� Pallbearers were Lawrence Dunst, Harold Locks, John Lee, Leonard Majewski, Norbert Rogers and Kenneth Skonieczka.

Miss Blount was born
Anthony J (Red) Witkowski, 64, died Friday at the Veterans Administration Hospital here.� He had been hospitalized for three weeks.� Mr. Witkowski was a son of the late Jacob and Catherine Witkowski.� He was a veteran of WWI, during which he served as a private in the U. S. Motor Transport Corps.� He was employed as a machinist at the American Meter Co., Inc.� Mr. Witkowski was a sports fan.� He was a life member of the Erie Arbeiter Club, the Zukors and the Siebenbuerger Club.� He is survived by three brothers, Walter and Leo of Erie and Edward of Michigan City, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Anna Mroz of Erie.� Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
Luciano DiCara, 75, died unexpectedly Saturday morning
of a heart attack.� He retired three
years ago from his job at Superior Bronze Co.�

Konkel, 3019 East Ave., died last Friday at St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.� Born in Germany, Mr. Konkel lived in Erie for more than 70 years.� He was a retired employee of the Erie School District, having been water tender for about 18 years.� He is survived by his wife, Josephine Konkel; a son, Raymond Konkel; a sister, Mrs. Anna Glowacki; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.�� Burial will be in Trinity cemetery.�

Joseph J Szczerba, 64, 849 E. 22nd, died at Hamot Hospital Saturday after an illness of one week.� He was employed by the Hammermill Paper Co for the past 45 years and worked in the finishing department.� Survivors include his wife, Mabel Szczerba; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Reed, Mrs. Robert Wilt and Mrs. Edward Krawczyk, all of Erie; one step-daughter, Mrs. Richard Brown, Erie; one son Joseph J. Szczerba, Jr., Miami, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Alex Sarnowski, Erie; one brother, Paul Szczerba, Erie and six grandchildren. Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Home, Sunday from 7 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 10 am to 10 p.m., and are invited to services Tuesday at a time to be announced.
Joan Rosett Ropelewski, 27, English teacher at St. Benedict�s Academy, died Wednesday morning in Hamot Hospital after an illness.� She was a graduate of St. Casmir�s parochial school, East High School, after which she attended and graduated at Mercyhurst College in 1957.� She also attended Edinboro State College during the summer.� She was a member of Mercyhurst college alumnae, the Blessed Virgin Mary sodality of St. Casmir�s church and St. Bernadette society.� She is survived by her parents Michael and Helen Wasielewski Ropelewski; five sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Sophie) Sokolowski, Mrs. Stanley (Theresa) Kownacki, Ann Marie, Helen Mae, Eileen and Elizabeth Ropelewski; six brothers, John, Alois, Edwin, Richard, Casimir, and Daniel Ropelewski, all of Erie; and four nieces.� Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Annetta Luke Van Geem, 89, long-time resident of Erie, died Wednesday at her home after an extended illness.� Born in North East in 1873, Mrs. Van Geem lived in Erie most of her life.� She was the widow of John Van Geem who died in 1935, and the daughter of Frederick and Minnie Schultz Luke.� She was a member of the Lutheran Memorial Church.� Survivors include two daughters.� They are Annette Whaley and Mrs. Charles H. (Helen) Wilson.� Also surviving is a granddaughter, Sara Brook Wilson.� Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, North East.

Florence B. Brechtel, 94, formerly of RFD Rasselas, Elk County, died Friday afternoon at Doctors Osteopathic Hospital.� She was born in Rasselas and had resided there most of her life before moving to Lawrence Park.� Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wallace (Mable) Gray with whom she resided with and Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Lord of Erie; two sons, Eugene Brechtel of Rasselas and Arthur Brechtel of Wilcox; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.� She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Brechtel and a son, Clair Brechtel.� Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Rasselas.�
Arthur Ostergard, 72, Claremont, CA, died Sunday following a brief illness.� Born in Warren, Mr. Ostergard had lived inErie until 1960.� He was a member of the Scottish Rite Tryian Lodge No. 263, and the Zem Zem Temple in Erie and a member of the First Lutheran Church of Pomona.� Surviving him is his wife, Mrs. Ruth E, Ostergard; a brother, Chris Ostergard of Hollywood, FL and a nephew, Merle Ostergard of Anaheim, CA.� Private entombment will be made in Pomona Mausoleum.

California, PA - Pauline Keller , 82, of 221 Green, died at South Hills Convalescent Home Wednesday.� She was born in Gosher, Ind., December 2, 1892, the daughter of the late Charles Collett and Lorinda Tuttle Piatt.� She was educated at Wells College, Aurora, N.Y., and was a founder of the Myerstown, Pa., Women�s Club.� She was a member of the United Methodist Church.� She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marian Fresch of Erie and Mrs. Beatrice Snyder of Bethlehem, PA., a son, Atty. Charles C. Keller of California; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Fillion of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.� Services will be held at the Caleffie and Greenlief Funeral Home, California, Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Charles Goodin of the United Methodist Church officiating.� Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park, Briar Hill, Pa.�

Louis J. Angelotti, 67, of 2910 Joyce Dr., Tallahassee, Fla., formerly of Erie, died Monday at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.� Born in Erie on March 6, 1909, he was the son of the late John and Richetta Marchini Angelotti.� Before his retirement he was employed at the Ft. Prince Nuclear Power Plant in Florida.� He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Tallahassee and was a former member of the Sons of Italy, and Knights of Columbus, and the Moose Club in Erie.� He is survived by his wife, Mayme DeSantis Angelotti; two sons, Michael of Lubbock, Texas and Gerald of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Frank and Leonard Angelotti of Erie; a sister, Mrs. Mary Toskin of Erie; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.� Friends may call at the A. Brugger and Sons Funeral Home, 449 E. 9th, Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and are invited to services there Friday at 10:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Church at 11 am.� Interment will be in trinity Cemetery.� The Parish Rosary will be recited at the Brugger Home Thursday at 8 pm.� Memorials may be made to the American cancer Society.�

Mrs. Helen Sarnowski, 81, of 719 E. 13th Street, died early Saturday evening at Twinbrook Convalescent Home, Lawrence Park.� A member of St. Stanislaus Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Sarnowski, on Jan 17, 1976.� The couple had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug 16, 1964.� Mrs. Sarnowski is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Theresa) Dorich, and three sons, Edward, Raymond and Leonard Sarnowski, all of Erie; seven grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren and one brother, Paul Szczerba, Erie.� Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 E. 12th, where friends may call beginning at 7 p.m. this evening.�

Dr. Joseph A Baranowski, 72, of Tuscaloosah, Ala., died Thursday in Tuscaloosah.� He was born in Erie. A son of the late Boleslaw and Rose Kawczynski Baranowski.� He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Georgetown Medical School.� He practiced medicine in Erie for one year and then moved to Olean, NY. � He entered the US Army in 1942 and was assigned to various government hospitals until his retirement as a major 12 years ago.� Survivors include his widow, Mamie Baranowski, a daughter, Anna Baranowski; a son, John Baranowski, all of Tuscaloosah; a brother, Anthony Baranowski of Erie; and five grandchildren.� Services and burial will be in Tuscaloosah on Saturday.

Arleen Same Arnold, 58, 2112 Lakeside Dr, died Tuesday at St. Vincent Health Center,� She was born in Rochester, N.Y, a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Same.� A resident of Erie since 1950, when she married Charles F. Arnold, she was a member of the East Erie Turners.� Survivors include a son, Gary Arnold; two daughters, Charleen and Pamela Arnold, a brother, Roy Same of Webster, N.Y., and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Morris of Livingston, N.J.� Friends may call at John J. Quinn Funeral Home, 9th and Liberty, today from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.� A service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Resurrection at Mt. Calvary Church at 10 am.� Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery.�

Dunkirk, N.Y. � Tillie Puder, 75, 317 Woodrow Ave, Dunkirk, N.Y. died Tuesday at Brooks Memorial Hospital.� She was born in Erie, Dec 14, 1904, a daughter of the late Karl and Louise Zimmer Schraeder.� Her husband, Emil A Puder, died May 20, 1980.� Mrs. Puder was a member of the Sylzan Chapter 258 O.E.S. and Good Samaritan Rebekah Lodge No. 251.� Survivors include two sons, Edgar Puder, Dunkirk, and Donald Puder, Jamestown, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.� Friends may call at the Gardinier-Colletti Memorial Home, 43 W. 4th St, Dunkirk, today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.� A service will be held there at 1 pm Thursday.� Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Helen Pallo Loesch, 65, 4155 Vegas Valley Drive, Las Vega, N.V. and formerly of Erie, died Monday at a hospital in Las Vegas.� She was born December 13, 1914, and formerly lived at 116 West Kelso Drive in Erie.� Survivors include her widower, Gordon E. Loesch of Las Vegas; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Peggy) Carson of Chalmette, La., and Mrs. Brady (Marilyn) Smith of Las Vegas; a step-son Claude Frederick Loesch of Alaska; and two sisters, Mary Wolfe Crandon of Wisconsin and Mrs. Adam (Marge) Tokarczyk of Erie.� Funeral arrangements were made at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nev.� Burial will be Thursday and final arrangements are being planned.�

Charles C. Rohrbach, 85, formerly of 2242 W. 32nd, died Saturday at St. Mary�s Home.� He was born in Blair, Ohio, a son of the late Edward and Sylvia Turnbull Rohrbach.� Before retiring in 1973 after 45 years of service, Mr. Rohrbach worked at Firch Baking Co. as a route salesman and then at the Surplus Store on Brown Ave for the final three years.� He and his wife, Evelyn Steger Rohrbach, were founding members of Our Lady of Peace Church.� Besides his wife, who died in 1985, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Rohrbach and Helen Johnson and two brothers, John and Floyd Rohrbach.� Survivors include three sons, Charles F., Edward J. and Robert R. Rohrbach all of Erie; three sisters, Mrs. Merle (Carol) Canfield and Mrs. Charles (Ann) Sample, both of Warren, Ohio, and Mrs. Del (Lois) Mines of Niles, Ohio, a brother, George Rohrbach of Elyria, Ohio; and four grandchildren.� Friends may call at the Francis V. Teddy Jon (T.J.) Hetz, 18, 6200 Bear Creek Road, Fairview, died Friday.� He was born in Erie July 14, 1969, a son of ted P. and Shirley A. Hetz.� He was a member of the class of 1988 at Fairview High School.� He was on the school golf and baseball teams and was an avid hunter and fisherman.� He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and the Gem City Outdoorsman Club.� Besides his parents, survivors include two brothers, Christopher L. and Timothy P. Hetz, both of Fairview; his paternal grandparents, Geraldine and A. Leroy Hetz of Fairview; and several nieces and nephews.� Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 7463 Main St., Fairview, Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and attend a service Tuesday at 11 am at Fairview United Methodist Church, 121 South Garwood St., Fairview with the Rev. Frederick W �Buddy� Anselment, 64, 1603 Fillmore, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 1990, at Millcreek Community Hospital.� He was born in Erie, Dec 12, 1925, a son of the late George S and Tillie Seroka Anselment.� He had been a construction worker and later worked for Industrial Sales Manufacturing until his retirement at age 62.� He had served as a Fireman First Class with the U.S. Navy.� He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Thelma Flickner Anselment; two sons, George Anselment of Erie and Dale Anselment of Cranesville; a daughter, Linda Anselment of Erie, two stepchildren Ralph and Cheryl Dolan, a sister, Marian Kuzman, a half-brother; George M. Anselment; three granddaughters; four step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.� He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elise Hermansen Anselment in 1958.� Burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

John Mankowski, 93, of Fairview Manor, formerly of 111 East 11th St, died Saturday April 13, 1991.� He was born in Poland, Feb 1, 1898, a son of the late Stanley and Anna Sierakowska Mankowski.� He graduated from Bible school and was ordained in Poland, then served as an evangelist in Poland, Germany, the U.S. and Argentina for the Slavic Evangelical Christians.� He was the former pastor of the Slavic Evangelical Christian Church in Erie.� Earlier, he pastored the Polish Evangelical Christian Church in Warsaw; and the Black Rock Polish Baptist Church, Black Rock, N.Y.� He was preceded in death by his wife, Emilia Wallesch Mankowski in 1978, a brother, Joseph; and two sisters, Stasia and Lodzia.� He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. David (Henrietta) Lawson of North East, Mrs. Alfreda Johnson of Erie and Mrs. Steve (Ruth) Kulish of Canonsburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.� Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.�

Alexander Stanley �Oily� (Jechne) Jackna Sr., 82, of 4711 Conrad Road, died Friday Jan 2, 2004, at Hamot Medical Center.� He was born in Erie on Feb 18, 1921, son of the late Alexander and Catherine Belvin Jackna.� He worked at Griswold Manufacturing got 20 years, and was a custodian at the Annex for 20 years.� He served in the US Coast Guard.� He was a fan and participant of boxing.� He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Edward and Alfonz Podbilski; two sisters, Sabine Santor and Regina Loll; a great grandson, Billy Edinger; a nephew, David Podbilski; and a niece, Nancy Adolina.� He is survived by his wife of 60 years, June Harrison Jackna; two sons, Robert Jackna and his wife, Shirley, of Largo, Fla. And Alexander Jackna Jr and his wife, Sandra, of Erie; one daughter, Catherine Wheeler and her husband, David, of Erie; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; three godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.� Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th St.� A service will be held there Wednesday at 1 pm officiated by the Rev. John Santor and Debbie Coleman of East Side Church of God.� Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.� In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at East Side Church of God, 2001 Buffalo Rd, Erie, PA 16510, or to the charity of one�s choice.�
