are her husband, Dr. Alexander F. Baranoff of Erie, a daughter, Mrs. Con
(Sophia) Tolkach of Erie, and two grandchildren, Kenneth Tolkach and Alex
Tolkach, both of Erie. Services will be
at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, this evening at 6 pm. Divine Liturgy will be said Thursday morning
at 9:45 at the church.
Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Studios, 3803 W. 26th. He was
a past president of the board of directors of Laurel
Hill Cemetery
and belonged to the American Institute of Commemorative Art. He was a member of the First
United Methodist
Church, the Rotary Club, Kahkwa
Club, the Erie Club and the Erie Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Gano of Erie; and a
daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Mary Jane) Fischer of Charleston, VA. Interment will be at the convenience of the
family.

preceded in death by her husband, Claude Wheattall Sr., a son, Claude Wheattall
Jr., two sisters, Ethel Hoover Blair and Edith Atkins. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ralph
(Florence) Cox of Conneaut, Ohio, and Mrs. Albert (Eleanor)
Szuchmanski and Mae Cochocki, both of Erie, ten grandchildren, nine

Freedom Care Pavilion, Bradenton, Florida. He was born in Kane on May 2, 1916. He had been employed at
national Forge Company in Erie and worked as a salesman
for the Ruberoid Company in Erie and Rochester, NY. He sang with the Uthinanun Chorus and was a
life member of the Commonwealth Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, the Scottish Rite, Bodies and the Egypt Temple Shrine of Florida. Survivors include his mother, Pearl Hanson;
his wife, Shirley Armagost Gustafson; two daughters, Mrs. Allen (Karen) Welter
of Borth Olmstead, Ohio, and Mrs. Guy (Kristina) Taylor of Penfield, NY and a
sister, Helen Webster of Largo, Florida.
Burial will be at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, FL.

Freitas. He served with the Merchant
Marines on the Great Lakes. He was a
mechanic at the City of Erie Municipal Garage and was a member of Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church. He was
preceded in death by his step sister, Marjory Ratajezak. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Benechi
Fratus, his step mother, Candida Freitas, three sons, Robert and James E.
Fratus both of Erie and Daniel J. Fratus of New Mexico, a step sister, Eleanor
Felix of Erie and five grandchildren. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

born in LeBoeuf Township

He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired employee of the
Fort LeBoeuf
School District. He was preceded in death by one daughter,
Winona Kibbe, in 1970, by a brother, Leon Willey, and by a sister, Opal
Benson. Survivors include his wife.
Alisa Brown Willey, to daughters, Mrs. George (Sandra) Wilcox and Mrs. Neil
(Renee) Reynolds, both of Waterford; two brothers, Merle Willey of Waterford
and Everett Willey of Meadville, one sister, Mrs. Asa (Thelma) Smith of
Morgantown, NC, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. A graveside service will be held Saturday at Waterford

Church. She was a graduate of Wesleyville
High School, class of 1935, and

Center. She was employed with 1st National
Bank for 20 years, retiring as a secretary.
Becky wintered in Bradenton, FL
for 19 years and was an avid golfer. The
widow of Clarence W. Tuberson, who died on Oct 20, 2002, survivors include
three sons, Raymond C. Tuberson and his wife, Sandra, of Fairfax, VA., Donald
C. Tuberson and his wife Marilyn, of Millcreek Twp., and William H. Tuberson of
Edinboro, one daughter, Heidi Lynch and her husband Lee of Vacaville, CA, ten
grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Laura
M. King. Internment will be at Wintergreen

of McKean, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her home. She was born in Erie, Sept. 13, 1941, a daughter of the late Grover and Rose Balsiger
Pyle. She worked in the General McLane High School cafeteria for 10 years and
was an electronics assembler at Spectrum Control, Inc for another decade. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McKean. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Frederick Moorehead, in 1983; two brothers, Robert and James Pyle; and a
sister, Lois Pyle. She is survived by
two sons, Gregory Moorehead of Florida and Jeffery Mooreheard of Edinboro; a
brother, John Pyle of Fairview; five sisters, Berdena Williams, Evelyn Del
Porto and her husband, William, and Marilyn Banister and her husband, William,
all of McKean, Helen Bonnett and her husband, William, of Lake City and Joyce
Hobbs and her husband, Jim, of Edinboro; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be at the convenience of the

“Frank” Carrol Smith, 63, 938 W. 29th Street, died Tuesday Dec 4, 1990. He was born
in Brewer, Maine, July 29, 1927, a son of the late Albin and Henrietta Welch
Smith. Mr. Smith had been an electronic
draftsman at Elgin Electronics for 19 years.
He was a member, officer, and past president of the Cardiac Fitness Club
and a member of North Coast Striders.
For 26 years, he had been a “jack of all trades” volunteer at Camp Notre
Dame, where he also was the cook for the off-season programs. He was featured in the imes-News Sunday Magazine on Sept. 30, in “Between the
Lines.” He was honored at a testimonial
dinner on Sept. 30 at the camp’s Ranger Post.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Belfontaine Smith; five daughters,
Theresa Lucas of Union City, Mrs. Rodney (Frances) Barton of Edinboro and Linda
Smith, Mrs. Michael (Susan) Aleksandrowicz and Mrs. Richard (Catherine) Klofft,
all of Erie; a son Alan Smith of Erie, and 12 grandchildren. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Camp Notre Dame.

died at the Veterans Administration Hospital Tuesday. He was born in Erie on April 6, 1921, a son of the late Matthew Gleisner, Sr. A painter,
he worked with several painting contractors as well as the Erie Works of
General Electric and the A.O. Smith Company.
He was an Army veteran of WWII.
Surviving are a brother, Matthew Gleisner of Erie, two nieces and two
nephews, three aunts and an uncle.
Private funeral services were held at Francis V. Kloecker Funeral
Home. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
