John Mankowski, father of Theodore Mankowski,

, died in Harborcreek
Township, August 21.
He was born in
Germany in 1844, and came to this country
in 1882. He passed the first five years in
Jackson, Michigan and came to Erie in 1887.
In 1892 he moved to Harborcreek where he
lived until his death.
His wife died about three years ago.
He leaves to mourn his loss, two daughters,
Lena and Mary and five sons, John Jr., Theodore, Joseph,
Leo, and Teofil. The funeral was held
this morning from the residence of his son, Theodore, at

Stanley Ketchel, native of Harborcreek, and for many years a resident of Erie, having left here 12 years ago, died in Detroit, Michigan, hospital Sunday evening from injuries suffered when struck by an automobile in downtown Detroit. He was 36 years of age and an employee in a Detroit automobile factory. He resided in East Detroit. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Helen Konkol Ketchel, Detroit; two sons, Norman and Gordon Ketchel, Detroit; one brother, Casimer; Detroit; five sisters, Sr. M. Antonia, Mrs. Laura Lewandowski, Erie; Mrs. Helen Herlet, Olean, NY, Mrs. Pearl Walczak, Detroit , Mrs. Victoria Hart, California . Interment in Trinity cemetery.

BLOW RESULTS IN MAN’S DEATH
Peter Angelotti, Coremaker, is Victim
Complications arising from a blow on the side if the death apparently caused the death of Peter Angelotti, 49, of 2617 Pennsylvania Ave, at his home at 5:30 am, Saturday according to the attending physician, Dr. Samuel Scibetti. Just where Angelotti, a coremaker at the Skinner Engine Company received the blow, could not be established Saturday afternoon. Rev. P.H. McNally administered the last rites of the Catholic Church shortly before Angelotti died. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Assunta Duchini Angelotti; four sons, Louis, Anthony, Bruno and James Angelotti; a sister, Mrs. Anthony Spadacene, and four brothers, William, Edward, Leo and Raymond Angelotti, all of Erie. Funeral arrangements are being completed Saturday.

Florence Baranowski – Funeral
services for Mrs. Florence Baranowski,
twenty-two, who died in Buffalo, NY
, Tuesday morning, will be held Saturday morning in
the residence of her sister, Mrs. Rose Rogers, 3305 East Ave.
Friends are
invited to call there at any time until Friday
Funeral services for Anna M Gorny, 455 E. 11th Street, were conducted in St. Stanislaus Church Saturday morning with the Rev. Joseph Radiszewski in charge of the requiem mass. Interment followed in the family plot in Trinity. Those who carried the casket included Ray Mankowski, Leonard Mankowski, Andrew Kopkowski, Carl Gorny, and John Walczak. Mrs. Gorny died in her residence Tuesday night after a long illness. She was the wife of Cassius Gorny. Survivors include, besides her husband, seven children, Lucille, Margaret, Christine, Reita, Jean, Mary Alice and John Russell Gorny; seven brothers, Joseph, Frank, John, Paul, Bernard, Casmir, and Leo Konkol; and four sisters, Mrs. Frances Mankowski, Mrs. Rose Paluh, Mrs. Helen Ketchel and Mrs. Clara Dobrzynski.

Leo Konkol a veteran of the First World War, died Monday in the Veteran’s Hospital in Cleveland, where he had been a patient for a number of years. Mr. Konkol was wounded in the war and since receiving his honorable discharge, has received constant treatment at the Cleveland Hospital. The deceased is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Frances Mankowski, Mrs. Rose Paluh, Mrs. Helen Kozlowski and Mrs. Clara Dobrzynski, and five brothers, John, Frank, Bernard, Casimir and Paul, of Erie. Military services will be held Friday in the John J. Brzezinski funeral home at a time to be announced. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Nellie Jares – Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the late residence, 1110 Brewster St, in memory of Mrs. Nellie Jares, who died early Monday in Hamot Hospital following a heart attack. Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Ann’s church and internment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Jares, widow of Leo Jares, is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Jennie Eskut, Sally, Irene and Dorothy Jares; six sons, John and Joseph, with the U.S. Navy; Henry, Leo and Edward, Erie, and Bernard, with the U.S. Army Air Forces; six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wienski, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Mrs. Stella Penkalski, Erie.
Irene T. Rastatter – Ill for more than a year, Irene Tatar Rastatter, 38, 5220 Richmond St, died in her residence Wednesday. A native of Erie, she is survived by her husband, Raymond Rastatter; one son, Raymond Rastatter Jr.; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Tatar; three sisters, Mrs. James Falcone, Mrs. Anthony Witkowski, and Mrs. Rudolph May, all of Erie; and two brothers, Alfred and Water Tatar. Interment will be in Trinity cemetery.

Ronald C Richards, age 49 years, suddenly March 3, 1955; husband of Rita Nowacki; residence, R D 2, Grubb Rd.; father of Mary Lynn, Terry, Gerald, Ronald, Karen all of Erie; brother of Frank, Norman and Lloyd Richards, Mrs. Irma Guyett, Mrs. Ed McCoughlin and Mrs. Robert Proctor, all of Buffalo, NY. Friends may call at the Thomas M Wells Funeral Home, and attend services Sunday at 2:30 from the Weiss Library Evangelical United Brethren Church. Interment in Weiss Library Church Cemetery.
Anthony I Mizikowski, 77, died Thursday on his home, 651 East 25th Street, after a brief illness. He was a retired employee of the Standard Stoker Company and was a member of the Polish National Alliance Group 234. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Mankowski Mizikowski, two daughters, Sophie Szymanowicz, Dorothy Pytlarz; seven sons, Edward, Joseph, Stanley, Paul and Frank Mizikowski, Erie; Bernard Mizikowski, Los Angeles, CA. Stephen Mizikowski, U.S. Navy, Long Beach, CA; 19 grandchildren. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

Joseph Mankowski became ill as he was preparing to leave his home, 1122 E. Lake Rd, Saturday evening. An ambulance was summoned and an intern pronounced him dead. Mr. Mankowski, a native of Erie, was employed for many years as a shipping clerk at the lake plant of Ruberoid Co. He is survived by a son, Robert; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Zdunski; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Zimenski, Mrs. Josephine Folga and Mrs. Julia Eichner; and two grandchildren. A brother, John Mankowski, died in 1945. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Brugger Funeral Home. Services will be held there at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a Requiem High Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Louise Hatton Baranowski, 58, of 2524 Cumberland Rd, Harborcreek Twp., died Monday in Hamot Hospital after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband, Michael Baranowski; a step-brother, Arthur Hatton of Lawrence Park, and a number of cousins. Friends are invited to call at the C.J. Dusckas Funeral Home, Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend prayer services there at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Requiem High Mass will follow at 9 a.m. in St. James RC Church and internment in Trinity Cemetery.

Virginia Spadacene (Spadacini), 82, 1449 W. 26th died early Saturday morning unexpectedly at Hamot Hospital. Mrs. Spadacene and her husband, the later Antonio Spadacene, had operated a grocery store at 16th and Parade for 13 years, until his death 22 years ago. Born in Italy, she had lived in Erie for the past 71 years. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Anna) Ferraro; two grandchildren, Anthony and Carol Ferraro of State College, PA; two great grandchildren, Helen Ann and Joseph Scott Ferraro; three brothers, Leo and Edward Angelotti, both of Erie and William Angelotti of Girard; several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may cal at the St. George Funeral Home, 628 W. 18th today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Completed funeral arrangements will be announced.

Bruno F Angelotti, 55, of 1403 E. 8th, died Thursday afternoon at St. Vincent Health Center after being stricken at his home Christmas Eve. He was employed as a foreman at A. Duchini Inc. Born May 14, 1919, in Erie, he was a son of Assunta Duchini Angelotti, of Erie, and the later Peter Angelotti. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and a veteran of the US Army in WWII. Besides his mother, survivors include his wife, Louise Fox Angelotti; a son, Michael J. Angelotti, Erie; a daughter, Mrs. David (Linda) Heinrich, Erie; a granddaughter, Michelle Heinrich; and two brothers, Anthony and James Angelotti, Erie. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Angelotti and a sister, Mary Angelotti. Friends may be received Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at A. Brugger & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday at 8:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Church at 9. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Sig Gorny, 72, 200 Carpenter Street, Philadelphia died unexpectedly Tuesday
at his residence. Mr. Gorny lived in
Philadelphia for the past 30 years.

Leo L Angelotti, 79, 8260 Old French Rd, died Thursday at St. Vincent Health Center after suffering a stroke. He was born in Erie, a son of the late Dominic and Mathilda Angelotti. He worked as a sheet metal and wood worker at Erie General Electric and retired ion 1966 after 21 years of service. He also worked 21 years with the Gloekler Manufacturing Co prior to its closing. He was a member of St. Mathews in the Woods Church and formerly belonged to the Sukor Club, Eye Club, the Saegerbund, and the South Erie Turners. Survivors include his widow, Lucille M (Palmer) Angelotti of Erie, two brothers Edward Angelotti of Erie and William Angelotti of Santa Ana, CA. Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm Thursday at the Francis V Kloecker Jr. Funeral Home, 215 W. 25th. A service will be held Friday at 9:15 am followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mathews in the Woods Church at 10. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Nellie Prylinski Saur, 72, died Sunday at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie, Dec. 15 1908, a daughter of the late Valerian and Josephine Mankowski Prylinski. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Shirley) Miaczynski of Erie; a son, David C. Saur of Waterford; and nine grandchildren. Her husband, Louis C. Saur, died in July. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

James W. (Geno) Angelotti, 64, 311 E. 8th, died Saturday at Metro Health Center. A life-long resident of Erie, he was born here on Aug 27, 1923, a son of the late Peter and Assunta Duchini Angelotti. He served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Angelotti was employed at A. Duchini Inc and later worked as a bartender at the Liberty Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Angelotti, and two brothers, Bruno and Louis Angelotti. Survivors include a brother, Anthony T. Angelotti of Erie; a cousin and several nieces. Friends may call at the A. Brugger Funeral Home 449 E. 9th, Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and attend a service there Wednesday at 9:30 am to be followed at 10 by a mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be at Gate of heaven cemetery.

Denise Jones Lanius, 40, of Millcreek Township, died Thursday, May 21, 1998, after a long illness. She was born July 8, 1957, in Erie, daughter of Ralph and Dolores Zylka Jones of Millcreek. Mrs. Lanius, who lived in Erie most of her life, was a 1975 graduate of McDowell High School. She attended Grace Baptist Church and was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in York. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Lanius IV. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth Lanius of Millcreek; a son, Jeremy Lanius of Millcreek; a sister, Diane Augustine of Millcreek and her husband, John; two step-daughters, Laura Yoakum and Susan Schearer, both of York; and two step grandchildren, Elaina and Brady. There will be no calling hours. Friends may attend a memorial service at Grace Baptist Church on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. The Rev. Al Detter, pastor of Grace Baptist and Pastor Andrew Phillips of York will officiate. Burial will be at Mill Village Cemetery.
