Enlisted:             10 September, 1861, by Thomas McLane,  for three years, 111th  Regiment of Pa. Vol., Captain H. L. Blodgett’s company  (C). 

Rank:                 Private

Wounded:          9 August, 1862, Battle of Cedar Mountain (“Invalid Army Pension“ certificate) with partial loss of use of left arm from gunshot wound incident to the service.”  (From Certificate of Disability)

Discharged:        22 April 1863 (Surgeon’s certificate)

Description:        “Five feet ten inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes. brown, hair” (Certificate of Disability for Discharge)

Father:               Mathias Brindle, b. 28 Aug 1803; d 6 Aug 1844; m. 26 Mar 1829.

Mother:              Nancy Wertz, b. 20 Jul 1809
