Captain Mariton O Way

"Mariton O. Way, son of Daniel F. and Adaline Fritts Way, was born in Summit Township, Erie County, PA on 18 February 1840. He served in the Civil War, eventually obtaining the rank of Captain, as a soldier of 145th PA, Company B. He was at Fredericksburg, Antietam, Sharpsburg and was wounded at Gettysburg. He served from 2 August 1862 to 25 June 1865."

"Mariton married 16 December 1868 to Isadore C. Jewett, daughter of Noah W. and Caroline Thomas Jewett. They raised a family of 9 children, all born and raised in Summit Township. Mariton died 22 September 1922 and is buried in Waterford Cemetery."

"Photos and ribbon have been handed down and are in my possession."
