Girard Cemetery

This cemetery was sent to the Erie Mail list in 1998 by Patti Waldo SWAIM
and I have pulled it intact from the archives; to give it a home in Erie
as follows; it is a PARTIAL reading but better than NO reading /Dee Davidson

INSCRIPTIONS IN GIRARD CEMETERY of ERIE CO:

The Girard  Cemetery is a tract of ten acres. The organization was chartered
in March, 1861 and the property laid the same year. The tract has since been
added to. It lays to the north part of town and the older burials lay
between
the north gateway and the gateway south which is the middle gateway at
present. (1953).
There was an old burial ground on the grounds of the Presbyterian Church on
East Main St. but the bodies removed to the Girard Cemetery when they
enlarged the church building some years ago.
