Abandoned Waterford Cemetery

According to Herb Kinney, there was a cemetery at 2nd and West Street in Waterford which became abandoned sometime after about 1865. Stones from this cemetery were moved to a commemorative site in the Waterford Cemetery on the southwestern side about 1930 or before. A DAR plaque dated 1930 dedicates the site:
THESE OLD HEADSTONES WERE MOVED FROM AN ABANDONED GRAVEYARD BY THE WATERFORD CEMETERY ASSOCIATION THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY THE WATERFORD CHAPTER DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION AND DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THESE PIONEER MEN AND WOMEN 1930 |
