Chester County was one of the three original counties
in (the Province of) Pennsylvania, formed in 1682. It's name
was derived from Cheshire in England.
The county is 762 square miles and contains 73 municipalities consisting
of one city, 15 boroughs and 57 townships (all of which are 2nd class
townships with the exception of Caln Township, which is 1st class).
The Welsh Mountains in Honey Brook, standing at 1071 feet, is the highest
elevation in the county.
