1889 Military Census

The 1890 Census for Clarion County, PA, like most of the USA, was unfortunately lost to fire. This gap in the census information is a problem for genealogical research, so genealogist are always excited by the re-discovery of records from this time frame.

One of our volunteers recently located two county-wide military censuses of 18 to 45 year old males that were done in 1888 and 1889. These were conducted for each township and borough in Clarion County. The recorded information includes the name, age, occupation, and marital status of all males between the ages of 18 and 45 living in the particular township or borough.

Look for more township censuses to be available here in the future.
