PENN. Seeking information on the PENN family. Born in Pennsylvania, Charles moved to Ohio and married a woman named Christina. Charles was born about 1833. Their children were: Cassander Anna ("Annie") b. 1860, Sarah, b. 1863, James, b. 1867, Ida, b. 1870, William, b. 1873, Elton, b. 1875, Mary, b. 1878. Census records indicate both of Charles` parents were born in Pa. These PENNs have been very elusive. Any help locating them would be greatly appreciated.

McELVENNY, BEIKERT. I cannot locate the marriage records of David MC ELVENNY (MC ELVANY), b ca 1861, to Wilhelmina Caroline BEIKERT. Caroline, my gr grandmother, was born in Butler Co, ca 1854, daughter of Gottfried BEIKERT and Christiana Fredericka RUDERT of Saxonburg. David was supposedly from Pittsburgh or vicinity. Any information on him would be apprieciated, I do not know if they were married in Butler Co., but their first two children are listed in census as being born in PA, the 3rd child born in Cinn, OH.

BREWER/FERGUSON. I am looking for information about the family of STEPHEN BREWER born abt. 1770, died 1848 and was buried in Westminister Cemetery, Butler Co. He married in 1806 to ELIZABETH FERGUSON. I am also looking for information on Elizabeth's family. Her father's name was DAVID FERGUSON born Ireland abt. 1745, mother's name was SUSANNAH POLLARD born abt 1759. They later lived in West Deer Creek township of Allegheny County. These are the children of Stephen and Eliz. Brewer: Susan m Samuel Carnahan; Samuel; John; Pollard; William; Robert; Sarah m James Sefton; Lois m James Hemphill; James, Stephen, and David. DUNN. I would be grateful for information on James Milton DUNN (1855- 1932) or his ancestors. He married (date unknown but before 1897) Belle Jeannette BLACK (1862-1924) and they lived in Glad Mill, Butler County, Pennsylvania. The house, much altered, still stands and is visible from Route 8. He worked as a gauger or lineman for an oil company, possibly T. W. Phillips. They had issue: Mary Ida DUNN (1987-1955); Robert Dale DUNN (1898-1979); James Hartley DUNN (1900-c.1980); Frances DUNN (1900-c.1960?) who married James WHITESIDE.

NELLIS. I am looking for any information on the NELLIS family. My great- grandmother, Hazel Marie NELLIS was born in Butler, Pa., Butler Co.,on 17th August 1895. Her parents were Edward NELLIS and Anna FLETCHER NELLIS. According to Hazel Marie NELLIS's death certificate, Anna FLETCHER NELLIS was born in Fryburg, Pa., Clarion Co. However, I have not been able to locate any info on her. Hazel Marie NELLIS married Thomas BANNON. They resided in Elyria, Ohio, Co. Lorain. Hazel Marie NELLIS died while my grandmother, Maxine BANNON was very young. This why I know very little about this family. Also, I would like to know where and when Edward NELLIS was born. And, who the ancestors are of these family members. I was told by a family relation that Anna FLETCHER NELLIS was from Tidioute, Pa., Warren Co., but haven't found anything, yet.

RAY, William, b. in Ireland, d. in Summit Twp., Butler Co., PA. Does anyone know of the RAY family? William had 5 children, the oldest of whom, John, was born 1798 in PA and died 1876 in Summit Twp., Butler Co. He was a member of Bear Creek Church. On 25 Sep 1825 he married Ann SMITH, daughter of Matthew SMITH (b. Ireland, d. Fairview, Butler Co.) and Nancy HINDMAN. John and Ann's children were William RAY, Nancy RAY Donaldson, Matthew Smith RAY (married Euphemia CAMPBELL on 12 Jan 1854), Elizabeth W. RAY Kelchner, John C. RAY (m. HUTCHISON, BEATTY, CHAMBERS, CHRISTY, CRAIG, HENRY, JOHNSTON, MONNIE, McHUTCHISON, NEYMAN, ROBB, THORNBURG, WICK, MOORHEAD, DICKEY, BARR, LARIMER. I am most interested in any information available concerning any of the people buried in the North Butler Cemetery since I seem to be related to all of them. I live in Calif. and have visited the Cemetery 3 times since being sent there by Audrey Fettters of the Butler Library in Butler, PA. several years ago. The 1st graves there were those of William HUTCHISON (1814) and his wife Margaret HUTCHISON (1815) . I have much info on their their descendants, but need more on their ancestors, back to Alexander HUTCHISON (William's grandfather ?) and before. Also interested in additional families buried there: BEATTY, CHAMBERS, CHRISTY, CRAIG, HENRY, JOHNSTON, MONNIE, McHUTCHISON ??, NEYMAN, ROBB, THORNBURG & WICK. I have some info on all of these, but would like more, including early history of this area. I am also researching MOORHEAD, DICKEY, BARR and LARIMER. Any and all information greatly appreciated. J. BEST, WEAVER. Searching for ancestry and descendants of Peter BEST, b. 1822, m. about 1850 to Mary M. WEAVER, and d Aug 1899. His wife was b 1834 and d 05 Oct 1893. Both supposed to be buried in Bethsadia Cemetery near Rimersburg. Believe Peter BEST's father to be Henry BEST, but no definitive proof. Their daughter, Mary Olive Best, 1857-1876, married Robert Bloom when the family was living in Clearfield County. Other children included John, Joseph, James, and Chambers Best. Chambers Best moved to Butler, Butler Co., Pa. Joseph md. and lived in Clearfield Co.

The father, CONRAD WEBER/WEAVER died betwee 1846-48. LOOKING FOR A RECORD OF HIS DEATH AND BURIAL. The WEBERS/WEAVERS were German speaking Bavarian and Catholic. Does anyone have cemetery records? McCRACKEN. I am looking for any information on the MCCRACKENs from the Butler or the Karns City /Petrolia Area. I, Robert Lee MCCRACKEN, was born in Butler in May of 1952, to Lawrence Joesph MCCRACKEN who was born in Butler in 1925 to Clyde MCCRACKEN who was from the Karns City area. Clyde had two other brothers William and Samuel MCCRACKEN. I have been told that their fathers name was Joesph MCCRACKEN.

WALLACE, Samuel. Looking for information about Samuel WALLACE, an early settler of Butler County about 1790. He and his brother John settled in the area on Bear Creek and in some of the history books it says Samuel WALLACE was the first settler in that area of Butler Co.
