  This Directory is comprised of a short history of Butler County, the information from that is included in the 1883 History of Butler County, and the following 20 boroughs.  The inhabitants, businesses, and churches are listed in these pages.  In this index, we have not included the paid advertisements that were on almost every page of the book.  The information included in this index is complete for each of the entries in the book.   They have been listed here alphabetically for ease in locating a surname.  The Borough name listed for each person, is the Borough where the entry is included, not necessarily the place of residence.  When the person resided elsewhere, it is noted.
