Ralph Curtis Vail, 77 of North Little Rock, former owner of Vail Plumbing & Heating Co., a game warden for Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and an avid hunter and fisherman, died Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Vail, parents, Fern and Earl Vail, brothers, James M. Vail and Robert Vail, and sister, Virginia Paulette, he is survived by brothers-in-law, Victor Paulette and C.B> Thompson; and sister-in-law, Amy Vail, all of North Little Rock. Mauryne Harston Van Pelt, 88, of North Little Rock, formerly of El Paso, died Saturday, Aug. 19. She was the widow of Albert Edward Van Pelt, a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas and a retired teacher. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, Eastern Star, the K.K.I. teachers sorority and A.D.K. honorary sorority.

She is survived by one son, Co. (Ret) Albert E. Van Pelt of Sherwood; one daughter, Wanda Fulmer of Conway; five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Bessye Neal of Conway.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Westbrook Chapel in Beebe with burial in Grissard Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mathews Vaughan of North Little Rock; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Shelton Kavalir of Crowville, Louisiana, and Angie and Steve Rice of Denver, Colorado; one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Vaughan and Norman L. Sisson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his mother-in-law, Iris Capers Mathews of Kilbourne, Louisiana; and five grandchildren, Darcy and David Kavalir of Crowville, Louisiana and Blake, Kyle and Taylor Rice of Denver, Colorado.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 25, at Huson Funeral Home North Hills Chapel. Graveside services were held Sunday, May 25, at Macedonia Cemetery in Kilbourne, La.

He is survived by his wife, Louise (Shannon) Vaughn; son, Shannon Vaughn of Morrilton; daughter, Wanda Joyce Vaughn of Florida; Six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Anna Lee Kahn of Newport News, Va.

VermilyWright IIIWright Vermily, III, of Indian Shores, Fla., formerly of North Little Rock, died at aged 71 on Friday, Jan. 7, after a battle with colon cancer.

Mr. Vermilya was a retired airline captain and a descendant of Orville and Wilbur Wright. He was a 727 captain of Airlife International. He spent 11 years based in Tokyo, flying to Saigon, Bangkok and Korea during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, BPOE Lodge 1912 Holiday Isles Lodge, and the St. Jerome's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sugg Vermilya, daughter, Janet Vermilya of Atlanta; two sons, and daughter-in-law, Wright and Jane Vermilya IV of Woodstock, Ga., and Patrick and Pati Vermilya; two stepdaughters, Jan Jones and Martha Cullum; and three step-grandchuildren, Kendall and Justin Jones and Jason Cullum

Funeral arrangements were by cremation.

John Everett Via, Sr., 70, of North Little Rock, died Friday, Nov. 19. He was retired from Union Pacific, a member of VFW Post #77 and the Brotherhood of Sheetmetal Workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Vida Mae Via; a son, John Via, Jr. of Maumelle; two daughters, Shannon Burri and husband, Dale, of Greenbrier and Cody Via of North Little Rock; three grandchildren, Jake, Bailey and Chipper; two brothers, Henry Via of Cabot and Tommy Via of Quitman; sister, Emma Jane Ness of Enola; nieces and nephews including one special nephew, Robert Gill Via of North Little Rock.

Ruth Nadine Victory, 74, of Cleveland, Okla., died Tuesday, Feb. 1,. She was born in Leachville, Ark., one of 12 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Victory, and a son who died at birth. Survivors include a son, James Victory of North Little Rock; two daughters, Willa Dean Spicer of Tulsa, Okla., and Billie Jean Castleberry of Cleveland, Okla.; one sister, Dortha M. Morrison of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his sons, Bobby and Bill, his parents and two brothers, he is survived by his wife of 68 1/2 years, Daisy Hoover Vinson; son, Harry L. Vinson and wife, Janet of North Little Rock; sister, Alma Bears of Morrilton; brother, Earl Vinson of Benton; daughter-in-law, Juanita Vinson of North Little Rock; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
