Harold Leonard Gagan, age 82, of North Little Rock, died Friday, March 28. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa and moved to California in 1955, then moved to North Little Rock in 1978 after retiring from Western Gear. He was a member of International Machinist Union, Board member of Gravel Ridge Volunteer Fire Dept., Mended Hearts Association, member of the Catholic Faith.

He was preceded in death by an infant son Kenneth and a grandson Richard Evan Gagen. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Gagan; two sons, Richard L. "Dick" Gagen, of North Little Rock and Thomas R. Gagen of Norwalk, Calif.; sister, Dorothy Harrison of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 31, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel with the Revs. Charles Thessing and Jerry Collins officiating. Entombment was in Rest Hills Mausoleum.

GainesThomas J.Thomas J. Gaines, 69, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, April 30. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, a retired professional engineer, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Herbert L. Gales, 88, of North Little Rock, retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Little Rock VA Hospital, died Thursday, May 11. Mr. Gales was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Veterans Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Air Force Sergeants Association.

He is survived by his wife, Alynne; son, Creighton Gales of Dallas; daughter, Ann Thomas of Suwanee, Ga.; two grandchildren, Brad and Lauren Thomas of Suwanee.

James Dillan Gann, 74, of Little Rock, an accountant and comptroller for Chris & Shaver Concrete Co. for many years, died Tuesday, Jan. 25. Born in McRae he held a degree in business from Arkansas Teachers College but his passion was jazz music.

He was an accomplished jazz musician and composer, playing guitar, bass and harmonica in various musical groups and an early morning radio show in college.

He served as a communications specialist in the Field Artillery unit of the U.S. Army in World War II. After the war he moved to Little Rock where he met his wife, Jo Ann, continuing his music, even backing up Tennessee Ernie Ford serveral times at the Arkansas State Fair. He was a member of the Sonny Land Big Band, the Stylemasters, among other bands, and was active in the Jazz Club of Arkansas. After retirement he spent many years in Masonry where he served as Worshipful Master of Trinity Lodge No. 694 F.&A.M. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jo Ann; a son, Craig J. Gann of Austin, Texas; daughter, Gigi G. Butler of Little Rock; a sister Bernice Miller of Conway; and a brother, Howard E. Gann of Pangburn.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Louise (Zimmer) Garrick and two brothers, Claiborne Thomas Garrick and James Martin Garrick.

Wanda Jean McQuiston Gash, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Grant County Nursing Home, after an extended illness.

She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church. She was born in Little Rock to Henry and Ola McQuiston where she grew up and attended school and graduated from Little Rock Central High School. She worked as a junior bookkeeper and expediter and was active in Girl Scout leadership and activities of her church.

Survivors are her husband, Robert R. Gash; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Paul Grove, Sr.; two grandsons, Paul Jr. and Jeffrey Grove.

GatewoodLeonardLeonard Gatewood, 91 of North Little Rock died Tuesday, Jan. 12. He was a supervisor for the North Little Rock Sanitation Department retiring after 33 years of service. Then he drove a bus for the North Little Rock School District. He was a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and former president of the XYZ Senior Citizen Club.

He is survivied by his wife of 70 years, Ruby Reeves Gatewood; son, Kenneth Ray Gatewood of North Little Rock; two granddaughters, Janey Lynn Otwell of Little Rock, Kathleen Williams of Cabot; brothers, Robert L. Gatewood of North Little Rock and Otis Dale Gatewood of Memphis; and daughter-in-law, Virginia Gatewood of Warren.

Robert L. Gatewood, 80, of North Little Rock, a retired driver for Central Arkansas Transit who was instrumental in forming the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 704, died Monday, Oct. 23, at home.He owned Bob's Travel Trailer Rentals, which he managed until a few weeks before his death.

He served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army and was retired from being self-employed in the metals reclamation business. He was a member of Elk Lodge #1004, North Little Rock and the American Legion in Heber Springs.

Mr. Gathright is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sidney "Peggy" Gathright; daughters, Julie Ann Tucker, Holly Jane Gathright and Peggy L. Paul Richard George Sr., 65, the first police officer to retire from the city of Maumelle, died Wednesday, Dec. 31. Retired after 20 years service with the U.S. Air Force, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and a charter member of the League of United Latin American Citizens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bertha George and one brother, Clarence Earl George.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita N. Oliver L. Gibbs, 78, of North Little Rock, a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Golden Years Manor.

His employment was with Modern Security Life Insurance Co. in SPringfield, Mo. After moving to North Little Rock, he became district manager. He was promoted to presiden to Midwest National of Tennessee which had him residing in Tennessee, where he became a colonel aide de camp on the governor's staff under Tennesee Gov. Frank Clements. Later he moved to Jackson, Miss., to start Gibbs Pizza with two of his sons. After retiring in 1984, they moved back to North Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Minnie Gibbs of Keo, a son, Danny Gibbs of Hollister, Mo., a granddaughter, Lori Gibbs of Brock, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Gwyn Gibbs; two sons B.J. Gibbs of Beebe and Jim Gibbs and wife, Jan of Brock, Texas; one daughter, Rebecca Stubblefield and husband Bill, of North Little Rock; three sisters, Hazel Watson, Mary Ann McDuffie, Bonnie Summers, all of North Little Rock; four brothers, J.W. GibsonDeNieceDeNiece Gibson, 20, of Jacksonville, a graduate of Parkview High School who held many pageant titles in and out of state, including Miss Jacksonville, died Wednesday, April 28.

She had recently moved to Branson, Mo., to stay with her mother and attend Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. She was an avid dancer and attended the First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Gibson. She is survived by a 15-month-old son, Haydon Lee Gibson; her mother, Carol Gibson; step-father, Don Squires, of Hollister, Mo.; and a sister and brother-in-law, LaDonna and Ronny Haydon of Austin.

Noah A. "Bus" Gimblet Jr., 79, of North Little Rock died Thursday, July 2.

He was an administrative assistant for personnel training at Camp Robinson. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, 35th Infantry Division, the Army National Guard, and he served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Willa B. Dillon Gimblet of North Little Rock; one son, Ron Gimblet and his wife Elaine of North Little Rock; one brother, Gale Gimblet of Norwood, Mo.; one grandson, Aaron Gimblet; and four stepgrandchildren, Brandon, Brent, Meredith and Suzie Phillips.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 7, at Edgewood Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Brooks officiating.

Arthur A. Givens, Jr. 62, of Sherwood, died at his home on Monday, Feb. 16, after a brave battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. He was a member of the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ where he was instrumental in planning and building of a retirement living facility for elderly members.

He attended the Stuttgart Public Schools and after serving four years in the Air Force, graduated from Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville. He graduated from the Arkansas Law School where he received a Bachelor's degree in law and later attended the University of Arkansas Law School, at Little Rock, where he received a Juris Doctorate degree as part of the first graduating class in 1968.

He practiced law in Little Rock for more than 25 years. He was a member of the House of representatives for 20 years.

He participated in the formation of the Arkansas Lou Gehrig's and Motor Neuron Disease Foundation.

A Memorial service was held Thursday, Feb. 19, at Sylvan Hills Church of Christ. Ernest "Ernie" E. Glick, 76, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, at his home in North Little Rock He was a World War II veteran and Retired fro the U.S. Geological Survey in 1990 after serving 42 years as a geologist.

He was raised on a farm near Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Russell and Clara Glick, and he enjoyed gardening, Hiking, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carolyn; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzette and Ken Hudelston of Goldsboro, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Sandi Glick of Zelienople, Pa; three grandchildren, Kristin Hudelston and Kaitlyn and Nathan Glick; two brothers, two sisters.

A farmer, he had served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in North Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Margaret Woodsmall Glover, one daughter and son-in-law, Lee Annette and Jessie C. Buck; two granddaughters, Carol Buck and Jessica Buck Gillson and her husband, David, all of Sherwood; and a sister, Barbara Fox of Cabot.
