She was the widow of Francis Marion Ward and was the mother-in-law of the late Maj Charles H Miller, drowned in a steamboat disaster several years ago off the Mississippi river near Memphis. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Miller; a son, Frank M Ward of Little Rock and two grandchildren. She was a native of Parboro, NC, but spent her early years at St. Louis,Mo. She had lived in Lake Village many years before moving to Little Rock 20 years ago. Mrs. Ward was a member of the Presbyterian church. Hipps was adjusting his carburetor and when he saw the man he was within 30 feet of Welbourne. He called to him and applied the brake, but the car was heavily loaded and he was unable to stop it in time. Welbourne was killed instantly.

The coroner's jury rendered a verdict of accidental death. Welbourne was about 50 years old. He is survived by his wife.; ag9/2/1917

Fayetteville, March 10 - Funeral services for Dr. W.B. Welch, aged 89, died Friday from a stroke of paralysis, will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal church tomorrow afternoon by the Rev. Mr. Thompson of Van Buren. During the Civil war he was chief surgeon in Major General Fagan's brigade. Fort Smith, May 4 - The body of Dr. W.D.Wells was buried at the county poor farm yestereday afternoon, death resulting Sunday night at the county hospital from a dose of chloral which was evidently taken with suicidal intent. The nurses at the hospital saw the man empty the bottle containing the drug and made an effort to prevent him, but the deed was done before he could be restrained.

Dr. Wells had been in Fort Smith about six weeks, coming here from Jans, Okla., where he had resided for about six years. He was in a very poor state of health and from indications was a user of some drug which ruined his system and caused him to act queerly at times.

He was the son of a British army captain and was born in East India. He was highly educated and plainly showed that he was one of those unfortunates who have seen better days.; ag5/5/09

She was born in Mississippi April 19, 1842, and came to Bradley county at the age of nine. She was one of the pioneer settlers of the county. She was also organizer and sole owner of the large lumber company, with mills here, known as the Bradley Lumber Copany of Arkansas. The Wheeler estate at one time included a large portion of what is now Warren. The funeral services were held at the home of her son this afternoon by the Rev. R.W. McKay of the Methodist church, of which Mrs. Wheeler was a member for 52 years. She was a charter member of the Methodist Missionary Society of the South. Confederate veterans, including J.T. Beard, J.M. Bailey, Hatty Blankenship, J.S. Lee, E.N. Wilson and James Johnson, acted as honorary pallbearers. She is survived by one son, J.N.
