He was the executive vice president and general manager of WEHCo Video Inc., Little Rock. He served nine years in the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of chief petty officer, and seven years as a technical advisor to the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the North Jacksonville Church of Christ.

He was a retired Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army and served during WWII. He taught math from 1946-47 in Carlisle, Ark.; 1947-1960 he was the principal for Lonoke Public Schools; 1960-78. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Lions Club, Phi Delta Kappa Honorary Fraternity, Retired Teachers, Arkansas Education Association, and appeared in the 1971 Personalities of the South.

Forrest Edward Wise, 84, of Newport, died Sunday.

He was a salesman for Swift and Company until joining the United States Navy to serve during World War II. He served in both the Pacific and the North Atlantic Theatres. Afterward, he owned one of the first frozen food plants in Eastern Ark. In 1953, he became the general manager of Varazini Furniture Company in Newport. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry in several capacities. As a member of the Rotary Club, he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He also served on the city council and on the board of First National Bank, now Union Planters Bank. Active in the state Chamber of Commerce, he served on the board and various committees.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha (Newsom) Wise, one daughter, Susan Wise Simmons of Germantown, Tenn.; one grandson; two sisters, Mary Wise Watson of Mesa, Ariz., and Martha Jane Wise of Cabot.
