He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak.

He is survived by five sons, Larry of Hazen, Chuck of Stuttgart, and Johnnie, Billy and Terry all of Carlisle; one daughter, Cheryl Briggs of Hickory Plains; three brothers, Paul, Steve, and Andy Madar; on sister, Veronie Fisher; 10 randchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Palm Street Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and was on the Carlisle High School Memorial Scholarship Selection Committee. She worked at the Citizens Bank of Carlisle, and at Arkla Gas Co.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Madar; a son, Clay Madar of Carlisle; two daughters, Carla Davenport of Lonoke and Cindy McNeill of Berryville; her mother, Alice Elliott of Carlisle; a sister, Nancy Elliott of Little Rock; and a brother, Steve Elliott of Carlisle.

MagieStephen K.Stephen Kyle Magie, 24 of Conway, died in a pickup truck accident about 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, about seven miles west of Scotland in Van Buren County, on County Road 2. He was a carpenter and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Conway.

He is survived by his parents, Dr. Stephen Kyle and Mary Rebecca Hoyt Magie; a brother, Justin Magie; and two sisters, Erika Magie and Amy Hartman, all of Conway; and grandparents Helen Greeson of St. Elizabeth, and Dr. Jimmie John and Margaret Magie of Conway.

Great-grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Togo Henry of Scott and the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hugh Magie, Sr., of England.

Rosary was said Sunday evening, Dec. 29, at the Harris Chapel in Morrilton.

Funeral mass was held on Monday, Dec. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Tony McKay and Rev. Edward Marley.

Pallbearers were Ricky Henry, Billy Wayne Henry, Togo Henry, Stephen Scherrey, Jason Freyaldenhoven and Wesley Bono.

Burial was in Crestlawn Cemetery, east of Conway.

He lived and worked in Indiana for 15 years before moving to Biscoe and becoming a self-employed businessman.

Survivors include his children, Audrey Karas of Warren, Mich., Robert of Raleigh, N.C., and Carl of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Annalea Cumley of Nebraska; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A cousin, 100 year old Mollie Marsh, lives in Lonoke.

Alfred L. Martin, age 86, of Benton and North Little Rock, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002.

Born in Little Rock, Ark., he was a retired real estate investor, and ordained minister of the Full Gospel Christian Association and the Southern Assemblies of God. He was well known in the religious community of Benton.

Mr. Martin was a 1938 graduate of Arkansas Tech. He is a WWII veteran, where he served with the 142 Engineers-42 Division. He is the son of the Late Arkansas Senator and Representative Alfred Coleman Martin (circa 1911) and Grace Miller Martin. His only remaining sister, Grace Dowzer, lives in Rochester, N.Y.

He is survived by two sons, Howard L. Martin and Al Martin, both of Arkansas; a daughter, Diane Bryant of Kansas City; daughters-in-law, Judy and Anilma Martin; seven grandsons, Conley Hunter, Wesley, Forrest, Bejamin, Maxwell and Jackson Martin; two granddaughters, Jackie Bryant and Grace Martin; and four great-grandchildren.

The funer servce will be at 12 noon, Aug. 29, at the First Assembly of Go Church in Benton, Ark. Visitation will begin at the church at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 1501 W. Maryland Ave. in North Little Rock.

He was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, a graduate of the University of Arkansas, and a veteran of World War II. While in the military, he served with the Army Combat Infantry in the European Theater. During his early years, his parents lived in Mt. Vernon, a small farming community in Central Arkansas. In his business career, he first worked with a natural gas company in Kentucky and the with an engineering and construction company primarily in South America and Europe. Upon moving to Houston, he held many positions with Houston Natural Gas Corporation and last served as Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer of that Company. He served as director of Southwest Bancshares, Bank of the Southwest and the National Advisory Board of First Commerical Bank of Little Rock. In addition, he was a director of the Salvation Army and of the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the executive committee of the board of the Houston Chamber of Commerce and a member of the board of visitors of the University Cancer Foundation for M.D. Anderson Hospital. He was on the Board of the University of Arkansas National Development Council. At St. Luke's United Methodist Church, he recieved the Distinguished Life Award and a life time appointment to the Board of Trustees. He was also a longtim member and teacher of the Hines Baker Men's Bible Class.

He is survived by his sister, Montine Mashburn of Carlisle; a niece, Patricia "Corky" Porter and her husband, Tom, and two grandnieces, Becky Porter and Cathy Porter, all of Ennis, Texas.

A memorial service was held Aug. 20, 2002 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, with Rev. Andy Noel officiating.

A memorial service was held at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple by Rev. Bobby Baggett. Interment was in Bellwood Memorial Park.

She was a retired school teacher, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belton.

She was a member of Cocklebur Baptist Church, and a storekeeper.

Survivors include her children, Maycel Zaner Woodall of Cabot, Vanita Eifling Hill and Betty Higginbotham, both of Ward; a sister, Pherby Hayes of Greenville, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m., Jan. 21, at Cocklebur Baptist Church, with burial in Hazen Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Dwane Donald McKim, 71, of Bee Branch died April 5, 2001.

He was retired from Teletype Corporation (Lucent Technologies) in Little Rock. He was a deacon at West Heights Baptist Church in Little Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; children, Gary of Locust Grove, Terry of Cabot; and Pam Pruett of Morrilton; a brother, Jerald Dickie McKim of North Little Rock; sisters, Mary Lou Berry of Little Rock and Louise Lankford of Bee Branch; and six grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at Southside Baptist Church, Damascus, with burial in Quattlebaum Cemetery, Bee Branch.; csh4/11/2001

She is survived by three sons, Jerry McKinzie of North Little Rock, Larry McKinzie of Rockingham, N.C., and Roger McKinzie of Cabot; two sisters, Helen Towsley of Jackson, Calif., and Inex Valentine of Mena; one brother, George Egger of Jackson, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Fairdale Baptist Church, Hot Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Mary McKinnon of Hot Springs; a son, Darrell McKinnon of Cabot; two daughters, Connie Jackson of Hot Springs, and Carolynn Sheets of Cabot, two brothers, Frank McKinnon of Hot Springs and Freeman McKinnon of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Colene Henshaw of Hot Springs and Erma Vaught of Glenwood; and five grandchildren.

Funeral was June 8 at Fairdale Baptist Church by Rev. James Davis, Rev. Dwayne Monk and Rev. Lewin Newcomb. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park, Hot Springs, by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

McLareyHaroldHarold Loyd McLarey, 77, of Sherwood died Tuesday, March 6, 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty McLarey; his adopted daughter, Deirdre L. Jenkins of Cabot; son, Michael P. McLarey; and daughter, Heather K. McLarey.

McLoudJimLonoke Mayor James Harold (Jim) McLoud, aged 65, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, after several months of suffering from cancer.

He became mayor of Lonoke following his retirement several years ago from an active career with the University of Arkansas Extension Service, ranging from county agent to district agent.

Funeral service was held Monday, March 3, at 1 p.m. in the Lonoke United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Richard Lancaster, pastor. Interment was in Lonoke Cemetery under the direction of Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Active pallbearers include James Nix, Bobby Glover, Dr. Dave Foster, Chief Bob Putman, Tony Scroggins and Lenville Evans.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Garner of Lonoke; two sons, Woody McLoud of Lonoke, and Harold McLoud of Little Rock; two brothers, Don McLoud and Charles McLoud both of Huntsville; and a sister, Wanda Gilmer of Rogers.

McLoud was a member of many organizations and boards, including Central Arkansas Planning and Development District, Farm Bureau, Chamber of Commerce where he was named Man of the Year in 1986, as well as Man of the Year of the Lonoke Lions Club in 1968, Epsilon Sigma Phi, Arkansas County Agricultural Agents Association, AARP, Kiwanis Club and Catfish Farmers of Arkansas.

A member of the Lonoke United Methodist Church, he served on the church's administrative board and board of trustees.

He held a bachelor of science degree from the University of Arkansas, and a master's degree from Mississippi State University.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Early In February, he took leave of absence as mayor of Lonoke, telling the Lonoke City Council members at a meeting in his home, "the prostate cancer is getting a little worse. I am to the point that I need to do something to allow the city to move forward."

Mayor McLoud battled cancer for several moths. Despite pain and discomfort, he went about his duties without complaint.; csh3/5/97
