Randy Lee Hicks, 42, of Austin died Sunday, July 20, 1997.

He was employed by the Little Rock Fire Department for 11 years, and was a member of the Little Rock Firefighters Local No. 34. He also worked as a meter reader for First Electric Cooperative. He served as chief of the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and was a certified EMT. He was chairman of the 17th District Criminal Detention Facility Review Commission, a member of Lonoke County Metroplan Committee and Lonoke County Volunteer Fire Chief's Association. He served as constable for Oak Grove Township, and was a youth sponsor at Fith Missionary Baptist Church.

Hicks was known for his service to the community, and he gave unselfishly to save others' lives and properties.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Hicks; a daughter, Ashlee Hicks of Austin; his father, Doyce Lee Hicks of Austin; two brothers, David Hicks of Aurora, Ind. and Rodney Hicks of Austin; and his grandmother, Marie McMillan of Cabot.

His mother was the late Betty Joan Hicks, anews correspondent for the Oak Grove Community for this newspaper.

Funeral was at 10 .m., Wednesday, July 23, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Cabot, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

HunterEarlEarl Grayson Hunter, 82, Benton, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000. He retired from Alcoa after working for 27 years and was a WWII Army veteran. He was of the Missionary Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Lueava Hunter of Benton; son, Leon Hunter of Benton; step-sons, Gerald Scarberry, of Benton, and Tommy Scarberry, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter, Janice L. Sutton; step-daughters, Peggy Turner of South Carolina, Mary Shnackel, of Malvern, Diane Spivey, of Plano, Texas, Linda Raper, of Glen Rose, Marcia Bearden, of Benton, and Beatrice George, of Ward; brother, W.L. Hunter, of Greenville, Tenn.; sisters, Marie Speers, of Texas, and Ruth King, of California; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

Services were at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Fairplay Cemetery. Ministers were Stephen Westbrook and Ben Palmer. Military Honors were by the VFW Post 2278, Hot Springs.; csh6/14/2000

Bobby Lee "Bob" Hurst of Roland died Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997

He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, and retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hurst; two sons, Bobby Hurst and Ronald Hurst, both of Austin; a daughter, Brenda Bailey of Austin; a brother, Carlton Hurst of Avoca; a sister, Phyllis Shockley of Mt. George; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Harmony Baptist Church. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.; csh1/8/97

Ruth Moore Hutchison, age 70, of Ward, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002. She was a nurse's aide and a member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her husband, Wesley Hutchison; her mother, Annie Mae Paul of Oak Grove, La.; one brother, Eules Paul of Louisiana; six sisters, Bell Heard, Sarah Lloyd, Opal Carter and Marilyn Stanley, all of Louisiana, Barbara Stanley and Naomi Evans, both of Alabama; and one grandson.

HutsonSadiebelSadiebel Shirkey Hutson, 81, of Hot Springs, formerly of Carlisle; died Feb. 20, 2001. She was a Baptist, and before retirement active in the Republican Party.

Survivors include children, Irma Goodwin of Benton and Tim Hutson of Hot Springs; three grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Culpeper of Little Rock, Dorothy Sims of Memphis and Betty Abbott of Cabot; and a brother, Lee Shirkey of Lonoke.

The body was cremated. Hot Springs Funeral home was in charge. Interment will be in Lone Tree Cemetery, Stuttgart. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Memorials may be made to the Boys' and Girls' Ranch, Audubon Society, Garland County Humane Society, or the chapel fund at Good Samaritan Campus in Hot Springs Village.; csh2/28/2001
