| Glover | Hazel J. | Hazel J. Glover, 93, of Carrlisle, founder of Chambers Nursing Home Center Inc., departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carlisle, Ark. A Successful business woman, beloved mother and grandmother serving at the time of her death as board member and secretary/treasurer of Chambers Nursing Home Center Inc. of Carlisle and also serving as a administrator previously for 40 years. Her mother, Irene "Fat Mama" Chambers, who established the parent corporation Chambers Nursing Home Inc., which was the first licensed nursing home in Lonoke County, preceded her daughter in death. Hazel officially joined her mother in the business approximately 40 years ago. Hazel was recoginized for her outstaindingf service by the nursing home industry, receiving numerous awards and was honored by the Area Agency on Aging for her dedicated service. She was also honored by recieving citations from the executive and legislative branches of state goverment from the state of Arkansas. A native of Lonoke County, born in Ward, Ark., she went on to graduated from Lonoke High School. On May 28, 1928, she was united in marriage to W.H. Glover Jr. and was previously recognized by President Bill Clinton in the year of 2000 for this milestone in their life together. They have just recently celebrated the 74th wedding anniversary. The Carlisle community will always remember her and W.H. Sitting on the front porch of their old home place watching the traffic go by and visiting with their family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Chambers; a son, Bill Glover both of Carlisle; and a half-brother, Reginald Garrett of Fordyce, Ark. She is survived by her husband, W.H. | Glover | Jesse Eugene | Jesse Eugene Glover, 74, of Fayetteville died Monday, Jan 11, at the Butterfield Tril Village Health Care Unit. He was born Feb. 10, 1924 in Lonoke, Ark., son of Jesse and Artie Mae Ray Glover. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Rita Glover of Fayetteville; one daughter, Wilma Jean Glover Owens of Tunica, Miss.; one stepson, Van Brewer of Prairie Grove, Ark.; a brother, Ross Glover of Cabot; and a sister, Ruth Haag of North Little Rock. She taught piano, voice and accordion for over 65 years in Lonoke County. Her draditional recitials were wonderful but long. Every student was spotlighted. | Glover | Ross | Ross Madison Glover, aged 82, of Cabot, died Wednesday, February 15, 2001. He was born in Lonoke to the late Jesse and Artie Ray Glover. After high school he embarked on a series of adventures prior to joing the U.S. Navy. He was eventually assigned to the cruiser USS Houston. His ship was sunk after a fierce battle in the Sundra Straits off the coast of Java. He was a prisoner of war for over three and a half years where he and his fellow POWs built the railroad from Burma to Thailand, which included the bridge over the River Kwai. He survived this horrible situation and was liberated in Vietnam in 1945. Ross remained in the Navy for over 20 years with a variety of assignments in Hawaii, Alaska and California. Upon his retirement he returned to Arkansas and began a career as a barber, opening a shop on Markham. In 1965 then Governor Faubus appointed Ross secretary of the Arkansas Burial Board serving until 1979. After his second retirement he moved to Cabot where he began farming where he was well known for his great watermelons and cantaloupes. Ross was an avid sportsman and an excellent marksman. He loved to hunt quail and trained dogs to be some of the best hunting dogs in the county. He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Patricia George Glover of Cabot, one son Ross Douglas Glover of Little Rock, two daughters, Janet Glover Davis of Little Rock, Stacy Glover Scott of Maumelle; one sister, Ruth Haag of North Little Rock; and six grandchildren. Funeral service was held Monday at Ruebel Funeral home, officiated by Rick Pitma and Mackey Pitman. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. | Glover | W.H. Jr. | W.H. Glover Jr., 94, of Carlisle, departed this life to be with the Lord and his wife of 74 1/2 years on Monday, Oct. 28, 2002. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Men's Bible Class, all of Carlisle, Ark., and was responsible in establishing the Gideon Camp for Lonoke County. He and his father were owners and operators of Glover Cotton Gin Co. in five locations, including Carlisle and Lonoke. He was also a building contractor. At a later date, he and his wife were involved in the skating rink business at numerous locations in Arkansas. After semi-retiring, he took on the responsibility of keeping up the maintenance of Chambers Nursing Home Inc. of Carlisle, owned by his mother-in-law, Irene Chambers, and adminsitered by his wife, Hazel J. Glover. A native of Lonoke County, born north of Lonoke, Ark., in the Sand Hills, he attended the Fairview and Carlisle Public Schools and was active and involved sports. On May 28, 1928, he was united in marriage to Hazel J. Glover, and was previously recognized by President Bill Clinton in the year of 2000 for this milestone in their life together. They have just recently celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary. After retiring, the highlight of their life was sitting at their old homeplace on the front porch visiting with friends and relatives. He was receded in death by his parents, William Hiram Glover Sr. and Essie Flynt Glover; three sisters, Ala Mae Baldwin, Susie Young Dragoo and Odell Veaches; and a son, Bill Glover of Carlisle. His wife, Hazel J. Glover, of whom he recently celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary, ent to be with the Lord four days before his departure. Survivors include a son, Rep. Bobby L. Glover, and a daughter-in-law, Helen Baldwin Glover of Carlisle; a brother, Wayne Glover of Carlisle; two nieces, Sue Baldwin Lackie of North Little Rock and Anita Glover Hardke of Hazen; two nephews, Jim Young of Conway and Larry Wayne Glover of Florida; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
