Tonya L. Fields, 37, died March 27, 2002.

Rev. Dr.Fields was a theologically trained and ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She served as the Oncology Chaplain at Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. She was featured in The Washington Post for her ministry of compassion and excellence. In 1997, she was the first African-American female Staff Chaplain hired in the 50-year history of the Chaplaincy Depart at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She also served as a Pastoral Psychotherapist at the Samaritan Center Care for Counseling and Education in Houston.

She is survived by her father and Mother, Roosevelt M. Johnson Jr. and Bernice Johnson; four siblings, Calvin B. Fields, Frederick L. Fields and Roosevelt M. Johnson III, all of Little Rock; paternal siblings, Terrie S. Ellington of Lonoke; James L Fields Jr. of Lakewood, Wash., Jason Fields of Helena, John D. Fields of Arlington, Texas, Jonathan Fields of Conway, Phillip and Justin Fields of Lexa, Kismit Whitaker, Samia Fields, Debbie Fields, Sharon Fields, Kim Patillo, Jeanna Fields, Jamie Fields all of Little Rock, and Rachel Fields of Lexa; her grandparents, Pauline Rodgers of Marvell, and Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Johnson Sr. of Barton.

FinleyBill Bill Finley, aged 70 of Spring Mill, died Monday, July 24, 2000. He was a retired merchant in the Batesville area for 37 years and a retired store merchant for a total of 47 years; he was employed by Standard Coffee Company for 18 years and was also employed by the Royal Crown and Pepsi Bottling companies and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, madeline (Pat) Finley of Spring Mill; a son, Larry Finley of Spring Mill; a daughter, Cindy Campbell of Zion, Illinois; two sisters, Maxine Finley Carnett of Batesville and Ava Finley Maddux of Denison, Texas; and four grandchildren.

He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Arkansas Cowboy and Rodeo Association, Arkansas Christian Athletes and was a former Cabot High School football player.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Finley of Lonoke; two brothers, Robert "Bobby" Finley of Searcy, and Daniel "Danny" Finley; and his grandmother, Frankie Finley of England.

Services were Wednesday, March 8, at the Country Chapel in Sylvania Community. Interment was in Concord Cemetery in Furlow. Arrangements were by Cabot Funeral Home.

Wade W. Finley Jr., age 34, of Cabot, died Thursday, July 19, 2001. He was a fish farmer and a major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years. Amy Roper Finley: his mother, Helen Whitley Finley of Little Rock; his father, Wade W. Finley Sr., and stepmother, Diana Finley fo Lonoke; a sister, Dawn Tinman of San Anselmo, Calif; grandmothers, Halogene Mason of Wooster and Christine Thomason of Lonoke; a great grandmother, Ola Glover of Wooster, nephews, Collin Tirman of California and Connor and Jack Bryan of Alabama; a niece, Skye Tirman of California, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Finley pioneered innovative techniques in fish farming, and was president of Collins Creek Farm Inc., secretary of Farm Cat Inc., and a partner in Finley Brothers and Sons Farm. He was a member of the Ornamental and Bait Fish Association.

In the Marine Reserve, Finley was executive officer for India Company, 3rd Battalion, 23th Marine Regiment at Camp Pike in North Little Rock. Finley was an expert rifleman and received several medals and metitorious commendations from the military.

Finley was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church, a graduate of Lonoke High School and the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

He was a member of the Lonoke Baptist Church and the Paul Brown Sunday School Class. He taught Sunday School and was a deacon of the church. He was a captain in the Air Force Dental Corps during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion. He was a past president of Central Distric Dental Association, and a lifetime member of the American Dental Association.

He was actively involved in Arkansas promise, Shots for Tots, ASME and Safe Kids. He was Lonoke County representative on MetroPlan. He was a member of Kiwanis, and was a past governor of the Missouri-Arkansas District of Kiwanis International. He was a member of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Cabot; son, Shannon Flowers of Castle Rock, Colo.; daughter, Missy Flowers of Sherwood; a granddaughter, his father, Shannon Flowers of Stuttgart; and a sister, Kay Edwards of Little Rock.

He was a 1990 graduate of Carlisle High School and attended Henderson State University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was a 1994 graduate of Pulaski Technical College, with a degree in respiratory therapy.

He is survived by two loving sons, Ryan and Tanner Flynn of Moro, Ark.; his parents, Don and Carolyn Flynn of Carlisle; one brother, Coy Flynn, and his wife, Sarah; a nephew, Colton Flynn of North Little Rock; grandmothers, Rose DeWhitt and Rebecca Flynn, both of Carlisle, and many loving cousins, aunts and uncles.
