REED, Calvin C. - was born in Bennington,
Vt.Elvira Brown was born 1812 in New York, her parents were Benoni and
Sibbell Howard Brown.Calvin and Elvira were married in Washtenaw Co., Michigan.
Calvin and Elvira moved to Anamosa Iowa about 1840 and in 1850 crossed
the Oregon Trail to Oregon. They had the following Children:: Delinda,
George Nelson, Calvin Mattson, Oscar, Alvira, Decator Gay, Bianca, Dwight,
Hortense
RICHARDSON, John Griffin - was born January
28, 1797 and came to OR from Adams Co., IL
Riley, Nellie Faye - was bor February
2, 1899 in Oregon. She was married to Carl Armstead Davis and their
children were:Harold Armstead, Francis Earl, and Calvin Carl.
ROBERTS, Nelson - was born around
1810 in Hawkins Co., TN and arrieved in Oregon October 10, 1853 from Bates
Co., MO. He secured a land calim November 1853. Nelson married
Jane about October 14, 1830 in Morgan Co., TN. He died October 27,
1871 in Washington Co., OR. Jane died February 10, 1902 in Washington
Co., OR and both are buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetary near Sherwood, OR.
Nelson and Nancy Jane had the following children: William, John,
Marshall, Margaret, Mary James, Samuel, Jane and Robert.
Rose, Aaron - came to Oregon from
New York. His wife was Frances Elizabeth Arrington. He : Settled
in Roseburg. City was named for him.
Ruble, David - was born December 11,
1830 and came to Oregon from MO. He was married to Joanna Long and
their children were, Marion; Victoria; Arizona; Orange J.;
Marshall W.; Eldorado, Arcino; Mary Lavina and Martha.
David was born in Virginia and lived for awhile in Indiana and
then Missouri. He and Orlena were married 22 April 1853 and left the next
day for Oregon.
They stayed for awhile in Eola, Polk County, then moved to Alsea and
operated a mill. Later they moved to Waldport in Lincoln County.
Daved owned a lot of land in this area and donated some of it for the
town (which he laid out) and for the first postoffice and schools. He was
a kind, gentle and generous man.
RUSSELL, James H. - was born April
5, 1823 and came to Oregon after living in TN,PA, and CA. James and
his wife Ann Haseltine Hill had the following children: James Buchanan
, Grace ,, Nellie , Martha , Mary, Hortense, Theodotia, Bertha, Mable and
Carl. One of the first four settlers in Ashland. Together
they built the Mountain House, later called Barron Stage Stop. A
stone mason in Pennsylvania. A butcher in Yreka. Built a marble
mill in Talent.
Russell, William - came to Oregon
from Ross Co., OH he was married to Elizabeth O'Hara or O' Meara and their
children were William Jerome, and Orin F..
