 KERNAN, William Henry - was born in Onondaga Co., NY of parents directly from Ireland.  He grew up on a farm in IA.  He was the eldest son and left for OR sometime before 1880.  Married in Oak Cree, Douglas Co., to Priscilla Cordelia Thornton  January 14, 1883 and settled there probably before that time.  William died at age 34 of a self infliceted shotgun wound leaving a widow and three babies, athe oldest age 3.  Priscilla had walked the ORegon trail with her family.  She had land in Douglas Co., and later Lake Co., where she lived withher youngest son.  She died January 12, 1930 in Klamath Falls and suburied in Oak Cr., Douglans Co., with her husband.  They had the following children:  John Jeptha, Martha Margaret, and William Henry, JR.



 KNIFONG, Joseph W. - was born April 11, 1811 and came to Oregon from Missouri.  Joseph and his wife Rhoda Ann Thurlo had the following children: John Martin, Pasca H., and Olive Elizabeth.
Spouse died before reaching OR, Joseph remarried a widow Mary White, who had a four year old dau. They settled on DLC #3765 near Willamina in Polk Co. They had nine more children, only one of which lived to marry. Eight and Mrs. Whites dau. all died between 1858 and 1874.
Joseph and Mary Knifong donated the land for the Willamina Cemetery.
