(Pawnee Indians stampeded the teams and stock and several shots were fired)

- Prior to 1877 Arthur Crissfield wounded at battle of Willow Springs
- Jan 1, 1881 Railroad registered station at Castle Rock, Coyote, Willows and Umatilla in anticipation of construction
- 1882 Sheep Ranch established at Castle Rock
- Nov. 1882 O. R. & N. RR built across north Morrow County
(1878 Oregon map shows "Line of Northern Pacific Railroad" in same place)
- June 24, 1883 Castle Rock has newspaper called Castle Rock Record
- Aug. 3,1883 Post Office established in Castle Rock
- July 19,1883 Plat of the Town of Castle Rock filed
- Oct. 1883 "Magazine West Shore" reports: "Castle Rock has express office, Post office, dwelling and school"
- Dec. 13, 1983 Daniels & Herren operated Castle Rock Lumber Co.

- Feb. 1, 1884 The Chigars new club organized in Castle Rock, to further the interest of
