About Us

The Burnt River Heritage Center was formed to provide a public service organization for the community and is entrusted with preservation of the history of this area. The Burnt River Heritage Center will work cooperatively and in a cost effective way to gather, preserve and share the history of Upper Burnt River.  It will benefit all the people who live in this area as well as people traveling through.

The members of the history committee collected historical information, documents, and photos for over 7 years with a group of about 30 people actively concentrating on this effort. Interviews were conducted with people in the Burnt River Valley and with families and acquaintances of people who have lived there. Many dates and locations have been researched, dispelling some of the myths that have perpetuated over time. All of this has been done in order to publish a history book that we all could benefit from and be proud of. That has now been accomplished with our "Lest We Forget" publication.

Our Mission
