William Jasper Langston
     William Jasper LANGSTON, son of Newton Patton LANGSTON and Mary Caroline CHISM, was born on 19 July 1867 in Bibb County, Alabama. William Jasper LANGSTON also went by the name of Willie.

William Jasper LANGSTON appeared on a census, enumerated 29 July 1870, in the household of Newton Patton LANGSTON in Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama.1

William Jasper LANGSTON appeared on a census, enumerated 18 June 1880, in the household of his parents Newton Patton LANGSTON and Mary Caroline CHISM in Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama. He was recorded as son William Langston, age 13, farm labor.

William Jasper LANGSTON was a school teacher and later worked in the Bank of Centreville.

Brothers Willie LANGSTON, Lum LANGSTON, Obe LANGSTON and Doc LANGSTON formed the Langston Brothers Band between 1890 and 1910. The brothers played for parties, gatherings of young people, or entertainments. They played songs such as "Steal Your Partner", "Jumping Joseph", "Twistercation", and "Sweet Bunch of Daisies". Young and old would come together to listen to the music. It was a popular form of recreation during the era.2

William Jasper LANGSTON died on 15 October 1950 in Bibb County, Alabama, at age 83.3 He was buried in Centreville Memorial Cemetery.
