James Calvin Abney, Sr.
     James Calvin ABNEY, son of Abraham ABNEY and Malinda Baise, was born on 7 January 1846 in Cumberland County, Kentucky.1

James saw military service between 1861 and 1865 Company J, 1st Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry (Union). The 1st Kentucky Cavalry Regiment was organized at Liberty, Burkesville, and Monticello, Kentucky and mustered in for a three-year enlistment on October 28, 1861. It was mustered in under the command of Colonel Frank Lane Wolford.

James married first Nancy Jane Baise in 1866.1

Nancy died in 1878 leaving James Calvin ABNEY as a widower.

James married second Eliza Jane Key on 16 October 1880 in Celina, Clay County, Tennessee.

Lizzie died in 1923 leaving James Calvin ABNEY once again a widower.

James married third Martha E. Tucker on 3 December 1925.

James Calvin ABNEY died on 3 December 1932 in Flat River, St. Francois County, Missouri, at age 86.1 He was buried in Lower Indian Creek Cemetery, Washington County, Missouri.
