     Dr. Samuel Parrish SMITH, son of Thomas SMITH and Mary Mitchell Scott, was born on 8 September 1814 in Clinton, Jones County, Georgia.

Samuel married Adelaide Julia Allen on 17 February 1840 in Autaugaville, Autauga County, Alabama.

Dr. Samuel Parrish SMITH Samuel Parrish Smith, of Prattville, Alabama, was born near Clinton, Georgia, September 08, 1814. His father, moving to Alabama in 1818, was one of the early pioneers of that State. Dr. Smith's early education was obtained at the common schools in the neighborhood, and his medical studies were pursued under the supervision of Dr. J. W. Withers, of Washington, Alabama, at the Jefferson Medical College, Alabama, during the winter of 1835 and the summer of 1836, where he took partial courses in anatomy,
materia-medica, chemistry, and practice, also paying special attention to the lectures of Dr. W. P. C. Barton on medical botany. He attended the clinics of the Pennsylvania and Blockley Hospitals, and took a full course at the Jefferson College the ensuing winter. He returned to Alabama in the spring of 1837, and commenced practice with his former preceptor. In November he visited New Orleans, and entered the medical department of the University of Louisiana, from which institution he graduated the following spring. Returning to his former location he continued to practice there until 1845, when he settled in Prattsville in a general surgical and medical practice.

Dr. Samuel Parrish SMITH died on 28 March 1891 in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama, at age 76. He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Prattville, Alabama.
