     Penelope E. Ramsey was born in 1828 in Georgia.

Penelope married Bartlett Ledbetter Cox, son of Waid Hampton COX and Martha Moore MATHEWS, on 14 March 1848 in Autauga County, Alabama. She was the daughter of James Ramsey. The ceremony was performed by J. P. Parham.1

Penelope E. Ramsey and Bartlett Ledbetter Cox appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 16 October 1850 in Washington, Autauga County, Alabama. The household was listed as Bartley Cox, a 23 year old farmer, born Alabama, and his 21 year old wife, Penelope, born Georgia. Also in the household was Cathrine Lloyd, age 12, born Alabama, relationship unknown.2
