     Geraldine May ABNEY, daughter of Ernest Azariah ABNEY and Katherine McNeil, was born on 5 March 1906 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.¹

She was four years old. She graduated in 1925 at Duval High School in Jacksonville . She was a member of the French Club, Peggy Young Club, Glee Club and XYZ Club. The quote in her yearbook was: "Heart on her lips-- sou in her eyes; soft as the clime, and sunny as the skies."

In 1927 Geraldine May ABNEY was working as a teacher at Springfield School in Jacksonville, Florida. She lived at 415 E. 4th Street with her mother, Kathryn.

Geraldine May ABNEY and Katherine McNeil were listed in the 1927 city directory for Jacksonville, Florida. Kathryn Abney (widow of Ernest) and Geraldine M. Abney, teacher at Springfield School, they were living at 415 East 4th Street.^2,3

Geraldine married LeRennie Edwin Anderson on 28 August 1928 in Florida.⁴

Anderson, a 26-year-old salesman for a packing house, born in Iowa; his 24-year-old wife, Geraldine, born Florida; and son LeRennie E. [Jr.], age 4/12. They lived at 373 East Sixteenth Street.

LeRennie died on 29 March 1935 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, at age 31 leaving Geraldine May ABNEY as a widow.⁴

Geraldine May ABNEY was mentioned in the obituary of her grandmother Annie M. ABNEY on 2 February 1939 in the The Evening Tribune. "A granddaughter, Mrs. Geraldine Anderson, and two great grandchildren, of Jacksonville, are also listed among the survivors."

Geraldine May ABNEY appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 25 April 1940 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. The household was listed as Geraldine Anderson, a 34-year-old widow, employed as a secretary for the state Board of Health earning $1500. She had 4 years of high school. Living with her was her son, LeRennie, age 10; daughter, Annabelle, age 9; mother, Katherine Abney, a widow age 60; and roomer Pauline Rogers, a saleslady for a dry cleaner, age 34. They lived on Gary street.

Geraldine May ABNEY and Katherine McNeil were listed in the 1941 city directory for Jacksonville, Florida. Geraldine A. Anderson (widow of Lee R), office secretary at the State Board of Health. She lived at 1031 Gary street. Also living at that address was her mother, Mrs. Kathleen Abney.⁵

Geraldine May ABNEY died on 6 June 1994 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, at age 88.⁶ She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.¹
