     William Harrison BROWN, son of David Leggett BROWN and Elizabeth HALLMARK, was born on 13 March 1841 in Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama.1

William Harrison BROWN appeared on a census, enumerated 10 December 1850, in the household of his parents David Leggett BROWN and Elizabeth HALLMARK in east side of Cahaba River, Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama. He was recorded as William Brown, age 10, born Alabama. He had attended school during the year. He was a farmer in Bibb County, Alabama.

William married Catherine PARKER, daughter of Warren PARKER and Hannah WEST, on 3 November 1859 in Bibb County, Alabama. The service was performed by W. H. Wilson, JP.2

William began military service at age 20 on 9 June 1861 in Centreville, Alabama, where he enlisted in Co. F 11th Alabama Infantry, CSA and continued until surrender 9 April 1865. He was wounded 31 May 1862 at Salem Church and again 30 July 1864 at the Battle of the Crater at Petersburg, Virginia.

William Harrison BROWN appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1870, in the household of David Leggett BROWN and Elizabeth HALLMARK in Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama.3
