Joseph ABNEY, son of Nathaniel ABNEY Jr. and Sarah Canada, was born circa 1807 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Joseph married Jane Walker circa 1827 in Christian County, Kentucky. He was buried in Meridian Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Weakley County, Tennessee.
Joseph ABNEY died in 1851. He was working for his brother John in Stewart County, Indian Mound, Tennessee at his sawmill and was making a flatboat trip to New Orleans loaded with barrell staves to sell. On the way down he developed cholera, died and was buried on the Mississppi River.1
