     Flavious Joseph BURT, son of Joseph John BURT and Elizabeth Grace BAKER, was born circa October 1836 in Georgia.1

Flavious Joseph BURT appeared on a census, enumerated 10 September 1850, in the household of his parents Joseph John BURT and Elizabeth Grace BAKER in Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia. Flavious J. Burt was age 14, born Georgia.1

Flavious Joseph BURT appeared on a census, enumerated 25 July 1860, in the household of his mother Elizabeth Grace BAKER in Cusseta, Chattahoochee County, Georgia. F. J. Burt was age 23.2

Flavious married Lourilla V. (?) circa 1862 in Georgia.3

Flavious began military service on 4 March 1862 in Cusseta, Chattahoochee County, Georgia, as a private in the "Chattahoochee Sentinels", Company D, 46th Georgia Infantry. A muster roll dated 1 May 1865 from Greensboro, North Carolina bears the remarks that F. Joseph Burt was "Left sick & captured near Jackson, Miss. July 6, 1863." During the Vicksburg Campaign the 46th Georgia was assigned to Gen. Joseph E. Johnston's army, Willian H. T. Walker's Division, and States Rights Gist's brigade. He was captured by the Federals and sent to Memphis, Tennessee 17 July 1863. It is not known whether he was paroled or spent the remainder of the war as a POW.4,5

He is probably the Josephus Burt who appeared in the Chattahoochee County census 13 Aug 1870 living next door to his sister Mary Ann and her husband, Shirley Palmer. He was recorded as being a farm laborer, age 35 and born in Georgia.

Flavious Joseph BURT and Lourilla V. (?) appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 17 June 1880 in Prairie Township, Franklin County, Arkansas. The household was listed as Joseph F. Burt, a 43-year-old farmer, and his 22-year-old wife, Lourilla V. Burt. Both were born in Georgia. Living with them were their sons, Leander (17), William (15), Eugenia (13), John (11), Charles (2) and daughter, Lina (4). All of the children were shown as born in Arkansas. Also living in the household were farm hands William Morgan, age 60, and Pinkney Bell, age 21, of Georgia.3

Flavious Joseph BURT died on 25 September 1888 in Franklin County, Arkansas. He was buried in Nixon Cemetery, Charleston, Franklin County, Arkansas.
