     Augusta SHELTON, daughter of Stephen SHELTON and Martha GRAVES, was born on 20 March 1844 in Autauga County, Alabama.1

Augusta SHELTON appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1850, in the household of Stephen SHELTON and Martha GRAVES in Wards 3 and 4, Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. She was recorded as Augusta Shelton, age 6, born in Alabama.2

Augusta SHELTON appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1860, in the household of her mother Martha GRAVES in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. She was 16.3

Augusta SHELTON appeared on a census, enumerated 25 June 1870, in the household of her brother William Graves SHELTON in Bastrop, Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. She was recorded as Augusta Shelton, age 26.4

Augusta married Dr. Homer Livingstone Anthony M. D. on 27 April 1885 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana.1

Augusta SHELTON died on 5 July 1904 in Portland, Ashley County, Arkansas, at age 60.1 She was buried on 6 July 1904 in Portland Cemetery.

Her obituary appeared 8 July 1904 in the Daily Arkansas Gazzette, published in Little Rock, Arkansas. DEATH OF MRS. ANTHONY -- Dr Anthony's Sixth Wife Laid to Rest at Portland -- Special to the Gazette, Portland, July 7 -- Mrs. Gussie Anthony, wife of Dr. J. L. Anthony, was today laid to rest in the Portland Cemetery. Deceased had been in poor health for more than a year, and recently was stricken with slow fever, which was the immediate cause of her death. She was 60 years of age, and had been a consistant member of the church for forty years, and had been the companion of Dr. Anthony for the past eighteen years.

Funeral services had been conducted by Rev. N. C. Denson, Baptist minister of this charge.

Dr. Anthony has been very unfortunate in losing his companions, this being the sixth wife he has buried. No children survive this union.
