     Martha D. SHELTON, daughter of Stephen SHELTON and Martha GRAVES, was born on 11 April 1829 in Autauga County, Alabama.1

She was probably one of the 2 females age 10 to 15 listed in the household of her father, Stephen SHELTON, in the 1840 Federal Census of Autauga County, Alabama.3 She died at age 15 of the measles on 9 August 1844 while a student in Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama.1,4 She was buried in Tuskegee City Cemetery, Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama.5
