     Jesse Daniel SNIDER, son of Daniel SNIDER and Barbara WEAVER, was born circa 1834 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.1,2

Jesse Daniel SNIDER appeared on a census, enumerated 25 October 1850, in the household of his parents Dorinton Patton LANGSTON and Martha Ann Camp in West side of river, Bibb County, Alabama. He was recorded as John Langston, age 8, born Alabama.

Jesse married Sarah Eliizabeth Abston on 14 October 1852 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Jean and Mary Hart Abston. Jesse and Sarah Elizabeth were parents of 3 children, Henry Jennings. Sarah Josephine and Lousia Malissa who married James Kyzer. Henry J. and Alice Scales Snider were parents of James Snider. He married Leoda A. Black. They had 2 sons Revice and Daniel. Written by Marine A. Snider.3,4

Jesse Daniel SNIDER and Sarah Eliizabeth Abston appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 30 June 1860 in Collns Beat, Trion, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The household was listed as Jessie Snider, age 25, farmer, $150 real estate, $300 personal property; Sarah Snider, age 25, seamtress; Henry J., age 4; and Louisa M., age 1. All born in Alabama.3

Jesse began military service on 12 May 1862 in Mount Vernon Arsenal, Mount Vernon, Alabama, He served in Co. K 36th Alabama Infantry which organized on that date at the Mount Vernon Arsenal. He died during the war. Note: The Mount Vernon Arsenal was established by the United States Army near the Mobile River, three miles west of Fort Stoddert, and approximately 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. Established in 1828 as an ordnance manufacturing base, the Mount Vernon Arsenal served as one of the U.S. Army's main ammunition plants from its inception until the Civil War.5

  5. [S697] Find a Grave shows a Daniel Snider buried in Arlington National Cemetery. I do not believe that is the same person. The grave marker shows him in Company G, 4th Maryland Cavalry which is unlikely. The 38th Alabama served in the Army of Tennessee and was never in Virginia.
