     Martha J. Glenn was born circa 1828 in Georgia.1

Martha married George Washington PATE, son of Elias PATE and Nancy BROWN, on 12 February 1846 in Shelby County, Alabama. With A. E. Nunnally, JP performing the ceremony.2

Martha J. Glenn and George Washington PATE appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 27 December 1850 in Shelby County, Alabama. The household was listed as George Pate, a 24-year-old farmer, born in North Carolina, and Martha his 24-year-old wife who was born in Georgia. Also in the household were their daughters, Ann, age 4, and Elizabeth, age 2; both born in Alabama. In the home too was Malinda Pate, 24, from North Carolina, relationship unknown. Living next door was Elias Pate.3
