Ruby Henry BURT, daughter of Henry McKenzie BURT and Margaret Mims CURRY, was born on 16 January 1891 in Talladega County, Alabama.¹

Ruby married Wilmer Wilson BASSETT on 14 April 1914 in Talladega County, Alabama. Ruby met the handsome Yankee by tossing her program onto his bald head from the balcony of the Monticello Opera House. This was on a dare from two of her boyfriends, who had to pay her a gold piece for the deed.^2,3

Ruby Henry BURT died on 17 January 1984 in Monticelllo, Jefferson County, Florida, at age 93. She was buried in Roseland Cemetery, Monticelllo, Jefferson County, Florida.⁴
