     Anne Jemison WOODWARD was born on 13 February 1909 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.1 She was also known as Annie.

Anne married James Marshall BURT Jr., son of James Marshall BURT and Florence BEDELL, on 24 February 1931 at the County Courthouse in Miami, Dade County, Florida.2

Anne Jemison Woodward Burt Lundbeck of Mountain Brook, a woman who grew up in the historic Woodward House and traveled the world, died Friday at 99. She was the last living child of five born to A.H. "Rick" Woodward, the Woodward Iron Co. owner who built Rickwood Field in 1910, and Annie Jemison Woodward. The family moved into the Spanish colonial Woodward House when it was completed in 1924 and gave it to UAB in 1937 as the official residence of the UAB president. Born Feb. 13, 1909, Mrs. Lundbeck graduated from the Foxcroft School in Middleburg, VA., but never attended college, said her children. "Instead 18-year-old Anne and her sister Martha 'Martee' Woodward were given tickets for a cruise around the world in the 1920s by their uncle state Sen. Oscar Underwood," daughter Sandra Burt Arnold said. In 1931 Mrs. Lundbeck married James Marshall Burt Jr. of Opelika, a University of Alabama graduate. He died in 1960 in Baden Baden, Germany. They had two children: Arnold and son James Marshall "Bo" Burt III of Birmingham. Mrs. Lundbeck's second husband was Hilmer Lundbeck, chairman of Swedish American Shipping Lines. "They lived in New York City and became very good friends with Ingrid Bergman and the Duchess of Windsor," Arnold said. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery at The Woodward Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood.1 She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.

She was the youngest and last surviving of 5 children of Alan Harvey Woodward and Annie Jemison Woodward, a historic family in the life of Birmingham, born in February 1909. In 1931 she married Mr. James Marshall Burt, he died in 1960 in Baden Baden, Germany, where she spent her summers. She later married Mr. Hilmar Lundbeck and resided in New York for several years before returning to Birmingham. She attended Fox Croft School in Middleburg, VA. After graduating she traveled throughout the world to places not visited by many people of her time such as New Guinea and China. She was an avid traveler and charming ambassador for her country. She was known for her charm and beauty. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eugenia Woodward Hitt, Martha Woodward Webb; and her brothers, Allan Woodward and Joseph H. Woodward. She is survived by two children, Sandra McGrath Arnold of New York and Florida and James Marshall Burt of Birmingham and Palm Beach, Florida; she has five grandchildren, Eugenia Korossy of New York City, NY, Anthony McGrath of Sydney, Austrailia, Julia Coleman of New York City, NY, James McGrath of Sydney, Austrailia and Teague McGrath of New York, NY; she also has twelve great-grand-children. The Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, The Woodward Mausoleum. Friends are welcome to attend and will be received afterwards by family at The LundBeck House. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood, AL.
