He taught school in Union City, TN, later accepting position of superintendent in Talledega Co., AL. He studied law and was admitted to the bar and served as solicitor of Talledega Co. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention of 1901 as representative of Talledega Co. He was killed in 1903 Talledega by a Southern RR car, leaving a widow and one son who was a surgeon in Birmingham.
